George, I like your image of the lighthouse for the Member Showcase. The lighting and sky make the image dramatic. |

I like the peacefulness of the scene. The mist at the top of the ridge and reflections in the water are beautiful elements. The golds of the autumn underbrush are pretty, but appear slightly over-saturated to me when compared with the blue tone of the hillside in the background.
I'm curious about how far north of Vancouver this shot was taken. Can you give us more information about your location, George? |

I can understand the challenges of shooting to include both the dark interior and bright exterior. You've done a reasonable job without doing an HDR or composite. The details of the NMAAHC are beautiful with the light coming through. I find the converging lines of the window in contrast to the upright Washington Monument distract me. One possibility is you could consider experimenting with the transform tool to skew the lines of the window. You've got a great eye for artistic detail like the NMAAHC structure. |

Thanks for your positive comment, George. Since the monastery had a lot of visitors, it was hard not to get some in my shots. In this case, it does add a sense of scale. |

How exciting to have so many nests with chicks! I appreciate the sharpness of wood stork's eye and beak. Having a softer focus on the fluffy feathers of the chick was okay for me. However, I wished that the one branch didn't go diagonally behind his head. |

In my opinion, it's the lighting of the scene that gives your image impact. The light makes the jar contents seem to glow. The black background works to keep my focus on the jars. Perhaps putting a white border around the image would help set it off, since the web site background is also black. |

I hiked the West Fork trail in Sedona on May 2nd. It's a beautiful hike! The contrast in lighting, dark canyon walls and bright sunlight outside the canyon, makes photography tricky. I think you've done an admirable job of adjusting the brightness in the top right corner of the image. The colors and reflection are quite pleasing to my eyes. I agree with George, that originally I didn't see the people crossing the stream. The inclusion of hikers gives a sense of scale that communicates how immense the canyon walls are. |
