That's right. It's nice to see the entire competition photos. We have gone round and round about judging. (My husband is a judge several times a year). Thanks for looking us up and your input on judging! |

Our club is a PSA affiliate if that makes any difference. JR Schnelzer is member and board for PSA. (he's also a personal friend). I can't speak for Andrew, but perhaps Andrew knows JR. We have a rather large club. I'm on the board and we have gone round and round about competitions, judging, etc. We have 3 catagories...Open, Traditional, and a monthly theme. Even with that, we get folks that stretch the boundries. We have beginner, intermediate, advanced, master and master 2. Even with that, we get folks that stretch the boundries. One of the gals I go shooting with, never submits for many of your same reasons. I like submitting, but I do get frustrated. I need to let that go. I hope you try submitting!
My club also has field trips, mentoring, photo discussions....I need to take advantage of all this more often! |

Thanks Andrew. Once again, I submitted this to my club's competition and it scored low. I'm about done with my club's competition !!! |

It sounds like you had a lot of obstacles in getting this shot. You pulled it off! I like the black. It helps define the main object. I wouldn't change anything. To me, cars are hard to photograph...nice job!!!! |

Powerful is the word I was looking for. (thanks Henry).
Bob, I would agree with Henry, powerful both nature and the well built surfer. The fact that you know him makes it all the more interesting. I hope the image is hanging on his wall!

Gosh, Alison! I admire what you are doing! I love the sequence moving from white to red. Please keep showing us your sequence shots! You are so creative and eager to learn something new! I can see this in a science magazine! |

Is this in Cascade River State Park? In October my husband and I are going to Copper Harbor, Michigan. I may have to take a detour.
I had to go back to your shot several times. I feel that large boulder is a quiet anchor in the shot. It helps lead my eyes to the falling water and vertical trees. I can just hear the water. I, too, like your final version best.
Great job! |

This is wonderful, Andrew. I'd like to be riding my bike on the path...I feel as though I am part of the photograph. Love the composition and agree with previous comments! |

Thank you Henry! I did get other folks in different pictures, but not from this angle. We could have spent all day there, but instead had about an hour. This was taken with my iPhone. I had more shots with my Canon...but errors and those shots got deleted before uploading. Lesson learned, the hard way.
I appreciate your comments. |

Thank you Bob. It was great watching and photographing people as well. This scene didn't have the interesting people. Maybe next time! |

Thank you Alison. I'm not familiar with that movie. I did a very quick google search and I think the library used was in Berlin. Perhaps others might know more than I.
We could have spent ALL DAY photographing the various scenes. I hope you can go there! It's fantastic! |
