While I like the final image, I really like the second image best. I like the detail, subtle colors, and knowing it was taken from a helicopter, the story. For me, I can't decide which way the water is flowing and I assume that is what Andrew is referring to as he mentions the tilt of the helicopter.
I appreciate and like your creativity in the post processing. |

I hope you make a book of all your photos with the stories behind them. What a treasure and memory!
I agree about cropping the top a bit. Perhaps just a tad above the white blurred lines at an angle. Left as it is, my eyes drift toward the lines while wanting to stay on the jackal. Your patience paid off!!! |

With the bit of history, this picture really tells a story. I find I like everything...the colors, the lines, the legs moving off the edge of the image...Personally, I would keep the foreground. It leads the eye to the Kerbs and finally the legs. |
