That is a good idea Dennis. I was wondering how to handle that as I like the upper patterns in the photo. But you really don't need them as there are plenty on the right and your idea gets rid of that dead space on the lower left. You know just after looking at the picture again a higher camera position might of worked to give some detail to the left corner. |

Waves actually. I like your comment and what you are familiar with. I wouldn't of thought of that. |

Large. This is a sandstone shore line with eons of wave action sculpting the rock. |

Good shot Kathryn! The only thing I can add is to put the focal point on the tribesman eyes on the right. Though it might be hard to do with a moving scene like this. Another option would be to increase the depth of field if enough light is available.
Here is another option using the rule of 1/3rds. |

I resized to remove the rack and circles. Used the yarn to frame the subject. Upped the back point which shaded in the voids. I thought there was a little flow with the color, left to right, light to dark. |

I like the photo but it kind of gives me a head ache with its busyness although it could be from the cold I'm coming down with. The lines and patterns in the water are unusual and you have a good eye for capturing them. You might of cleaned up the water a bit. The white specs.
Dennis's image is more appealing, softer. Not so crazy. |

You are the bug expert Neal! Excellent capture of a annoying pest to most of us. I will look at the flie in a different light from now on. Good work with macro too. A area I need to explore. |

A pleasing photo with a soft shadow and flow. The subject is placed well in the frame too.
Another possibility would be to soften the subject bit. Reduce saturation, sharpening, contrast.
