A REALLY nice capture and also a very difficult capture with what appears to be mixed light sources. It makes it very difficult to establish a proper white balance. It is sometimes helpful when dealing with mixed light sources to use a grey card or Color Checker Passport to define the proper white balance. To my eyes there is a slight magenta cast to the image which might be improved by increasing the tint slider in LR. In addition, the camera left side of the room appears darker then the right side. Some adjustments might be in order. With the difficult white balance, sometimes conversion to black and white is in order. See thumbnails. Let me know of my suggestions. |

I reiterate that this is a VERY CREATIVE use of light painting!!!! My suggestion would be (1) try to be 6-8 feet from the model with the light wand so that you don't get reflections on the arms and (2) Open the shutter and then turn on the light wand at the bottom of your arc, make the sweep and then turn off the light wand and release the shutter so you get a smooth rainbow effect with just a silhouette of the model. VERY WELL DONE!!!! |

I agree with Xiao's suggestion regarding noise reduction and the use of color being a stronger image. I feel that Tom is on the right track here with repositioning the subject to the right as I feel that it better accomplishes your artistic intent which was to juxtapose the lighthouse and the mountains. NICE JOB!! |

Hey, Tom
There is a VERY GOOD REASON why I did not apply a vignette---I didn't think of it. :) However, now that I have thought of it, thanks to your suggestion, I think a vignette would make for a stronger image. Thanks!! |

This simple image is VERY INTRIGUING!! My main focus is on the subject thanks to your use of selective focus to push my eye to the subject. My only quibble with this otherwise excellent image would be to suggest that the image has a bit of a greenish cast which amplifies the brightness of the bus in the background. The original image does not have this cast and to my eye is a stronger image. GOOD CAPTURE!!!! |

Whoa, Darcy, you have outdone yourself!! This is a GREAT capture of these terrible animals who are always on the move and to me are THE most difficult to capture well. Everything is done well, sharpness, focus and especially the composition with the bird in the left side of the frame. My only suggestion would be to tone down the very bright spot camera right which tends to pull my eye from the main subject. As an aside, this would be a GREAT candidate for a fine art print. See thumbnail. Fine art prints tend to sell MUCH better than natural prints. GREAT JOB!!! |

Tom, Boy you caught this bird in just the nick of time. Good capture!!! To my eye there is SO MUCH blurred image in the forground that it makes it difficult to see the main subject--the bird. Nevertheless, the image has some great potential to my eye. Suggest you do a crop of all the blurred areas and desaturate everything but the bird so that your eye is drawn to it. See the thumbnails. Let me know if you think I have butchered your image. |

WOW!! What a creative use of light painting!!! I need some answers. Did you use a tripod?? Did you use one sweep or multiple sweeps of the light wand?? How far away was the light wand from the model? GREAT JOB and 5 stars for creativity. |
