Really nice documentary image David. I agree with some of the previous comments about the bright white background which acts as a light trap and draws our eye away from the main subject. Have you considered making this a black-and-white image. I happen to like the black-and-white rendition better than the color rendition. Let me know what you think. |

A really nice Halloween image. I like the subject matter, the color balance and exposure. This is another example of tangents. The basket of flowers obscures the face of the pumpkin and confuses the eye as to what the subject really is. This problem could be resolved by either moving the pumpkin or the basket a little bit to the right or the left and then making a composition from that standpoint. Nice job. |

A very nice documentary image. I like the subject and I actually like the placement. My concern about this image is it seems to be a bit soft to me and not as sharp as it could be. In addition, the bright white wall in the background tends to pull my eye away from the main subject which is the window. This might be resolved by decreasing some of the highlights in Lightroom. This is a very nice example of light painting, Mark. you have done an excellent job with regard to exposure and focus under very difficult conditions. I agree with Dan that perhaps placing the subject in one of the four power points might make this already exceptional image a little bit better. NICE JOB!!! |

DOUBLE WOW!!!! There are just so many things to like about this image. I really like the Alpenglo tthat you are able to obtain as well as the composition. You have a nice foreground middleground and background and it is all very very well exposed. I can see detail in both the dark and shadow areas. It is both crisp and sharp. The only criticism I have of this already excellent image would be the presence of tangents on the camera left side of the image. Tangents are lines that either confuse the eye or add a single dimension to the image. The classic tangent line is the antler tangent in which you see telephone poles arising from the back of people's head. There are about nine different types of tangents that you're capable of having and they mostly involve the borders. On the left side of this image I see two twigs coming out from the left side which would best be removed as they tend to confuse the eye. before submitting any images, I always engage in border patrol. By that I mean I carefully examine all four borders to make sure there are no unusual tangents or other problems that are there and if so remove them. Otherwise, this is a really, really nice image. If the tangents were removed, I think this would be definitely a winner in any competition. GOOD JOB!!! |
