15 Jul 18 Comment Joan,Thank you for the kind comments. It was a thrill when I saw what I had. I would like to do more with a darker sky. Just for the record the "sun" on the horizon is a flare from an offshore oil rig. I live in Houston and the water is the Gulf of Mexico. It is difficult to get a truly dark sky here. One would have to go to Big Bend National Park to get a really dark sky. Maybe someday... Jul 27th
15 Jul 18 Comment Hi Rick, I think this is one the best of your dog pictures that I can remember. The oil painting was an inspired choice.
I have had the Topaz Studio for a while and have used it some but not for an oil painting. Now I think I must try it. Well done.

15 Jul 18 Comment Joan, that was a good result with the panning. The deer stands out well against the blurred background and he is nicely situated in the frame. Jul 17th
15 Jul 18 Comment Linda, Your choice of subjects is spot on. I think I would, perhaps, have cropped a lot of the busy stuff from the left side, putting each lady in 1/3 of the image.(If you are inclined worry about the"rule of thirds".) Seriously, It puts more emphasis on their facial expressions which I think you were going for. I took the liberty of doing that so You can see what I had in mind. Jul 17th
15 Jul 18 Comment Well done, Tianji. The bird and the fish are both in focus and the subject well composed. It makes me cold just to look at it, which is pretty nice, since the temperature in Houston was 99 degrees F today. Jul 17th
15 Jul 18 Reply Tianji,Thank you for your very kind comments. I was so excited just to get anything in the very first try. Jul 17th
15 Jul 18 Reply Linda, thank you for your gracious comment. The technicals were: 24mm Nikkor lens,aperture:f2.8,exposure:15 seconds, ISO 1600 on my D700. Some photographers, I know, use a wider angle up to 14mm but 24 is what I have.Perhaps, if I were to take many more of this type, I would rent a wide angle zoom to try the various settings before I would invest in another lens.
