Well, nature competitions are only one use of a good photograph. In the pro world they would always remove the bottle cap. I think your crop is just right, enough habitat, but not too much. The detail in the feathers good even though the subject is backlit. But of course the best part is the peak action, with space all around the fish as the egret lines it up for the swallow. Very nice. |

Nice composition. I do like the way the background colours mimic the tones of the tree bark. The bright orange of the peeled bark contrast well and is a surprise with the other hues. When I started in photography in a more serious way, and joined a photo club in North Vancouver, Freeman Patterson was something of a guru, quoted often. I attended his seminars here in BC, and have a number of his books. They helped me learn, and encouraged me to try different things. Always good for a reread, never out of style. |

I like your composition, the butterfly and berries sit nicely on the green leaves. The bokah is super, the subjects separate very well. Its an interesting choice to include the blueberries instead of the usual flower. |

Having a creek in your yard is a wonderful thing, you can observe it without travel. I like the diagonal composition, there is implied motion and flow. There is a lot of contrast between the dark water and white snow, with the ice having a bit of both. |

You did well to notice the subtle patterns in the sand. Your composition is austere, but there is much to look at. There is an impression of flow. |

Luck favours those who are patient. Very interesting shape, I don't think I have ever seen anything like it in a picture before. The foreground lights and buildings add to the story. Having the stars show is a bonus. Very good. |
