Paul: In the end... this is YOUR image NOT anyone from this or other groups... and I would suggest that you should follow your instinct/gut re: composition. The attached above is just my interpretation of someplace you have been and seen. To my eye, the other child was a distraction and did not add anything to the image. |

Rashid: An interesting composition, but, to my eye, may benefit from a tonal adjustment. Your image appears a bit flat to my eye. |

I do not know what Edward Weston.. has to do with the price of butter... he did western theme stuff and, to my knowledge had no interest in pears... B/W or color for that matter... I'm glad you like Peter's version... but, it is not mine... Thanks for your comments. |

Ed... as Peter said... it is subjective whether YOU prefer a vertical version... I prefer the landscape... in the end it is the quality of the photography … and, not one mention of that...quality, exposure, composition, etc... I'll enjoy a scotch/bourbon over your image.. |

HI Ed...a great shot. Love the water effects from your slow shutter speed. Just curious I bet the color version is fabulous as well. |

Hi Paul... what a difficult shot this must have been to capture! I see such sadness in this child's eyes which speaks volumes. I love this image. If this were mine, I might crop it a bit tighter on the right - to my eye the child on the right is in conflict with the main subject. Additionally, I would remove the specular highlights in his eyes... and, would leave the buggers, etc. on his face alone. I took the liberty of giving my version |

Stephen: Thank you for visiting our group again...I do believe I used two flashes... looking closely at the pear, the left side of the pear has light even though it does not appear to be lit and the other light is right and above. I do not recall how far a distance the flashes were to the pear, however, the flash power is as important to the result as is the distance. Since the metadata only indicates that the flash triggered and not the power, I'd suspect the flash on the right had greater power than the flash to the left. |

John: I like your image very much as it is... it really tells a story and think your title is so appropriate. |

Peter: As you said... it is subjective, but maybe my crop is a bit tight. Thank you |
