John - you have the ability to turn the most mundane objects into a work of art and make meaningful images from scenarios most other photographers would walk past.
The rope or string is the star of the image and contrasts texturally and connects with the two vertical fence posts. The muted background allows the main elements to stand out.
The highlight on the lower cross member at the base of the image is a little distracting - I would clone/crop it out. I would also apply a 1-2 pixel white stroke to separate the image from the screen background.

Ella - yet another sublime still life - so well conceived, lit and processed and I like the diagonal flow up the shoe and the stopper at the top.
Your still life skills are above and beyond those of most photographers, even the pro's. |

Susan - Like Michael this location was on my bucket list as I had seen so many amazing images from this location, but I never made it :(
A strong composition with the diagonal leading line and great detail, lighting and texture in the sand. Good tonal range and the highlights handled well. A little more contrast perhaps to boost the image?
As I have pusted before a 1-2 pixel white stroke would make the image stand out against the black screen background. |

Michael - a very atmospheric image in which the multiple images have been merged to perfection. The moonlight (?) catching the lighthouse is sublime and the retention of detail in the light and the light flare are amazing. The milky Way is a real bonus and adds interest.
Overall extremely well captured and processed, the portrait format is just right for this image. |

Ian - a classic image of a power boat at speed with all the ingredients, particulsrly the wonderful spray pattern and a dark background. Perfectly positioned in the frame and the white water in the wake adds to the depth of the image. well processed as usual - a great capture!
Many years ago there was a power boat event on the Chasewater canal reservoir close to where I live - naturally I attended, but the boats were too far away for my longest lens at the time so no useable images :( Regrettably the event was a one off. |
