Ella - a very strong image with great impact and so well composed. The interplay of the various shapes, patterns and textures works so well. The benefit of the removal of the steelwork upper right is debatable - like John I am in two minds here. |

Susan - a delightfull image, so delicate yet full of shape, form and texture. I am not familiar with the work of Michael Kenna, but I am sure that he would be impressed! Very well done. |

Michael - You know that I am a sucker for isolated Icelandic churches/chapels - I find them so photogenic, but have not visited the location of your black church in SW Iceland.
A strong, well balanced image, nicely composed with a great foreground and overall detail. I particularly like the interplay between the peak of the church roof and the distant mountain.
I'm sure you are aware of the background to these isolated churches - apparently the result of tax incentives. If a farm built a church then their taxes were reduced. |

Ella this is not 'my' black church which is Budakirkja in NW Iceland. Michael's black church is in SW Iceland and I have not been there. |

Ian - a great study of shape, form and texture which gels nicely, especially in portrait format. The slow shutter speed has given the image an etherial quality and I particularly like the curved section of the sea wall. The low light conditions have reduced the overall contrast, but this adds a little mood to the image.
I admire your tenacity in photographing under such inclement conditions! |

John - a superb image of nature's inbuilt graphics artist! The shape and form are close to perfection and your seeing eye has triumphed once again - as Ella posted most folk would have walked by without noticing it. The background is so complimentary - ecen the dark and light stones are well positioned and the textures and tonal range are spot on.
I agree with Ella re. a vignette - all my images have a slight vignette applied in CEP4 Darken/Lighten Centre with the following settings ...
Shape 1, Centre Luminosity 0%, Border Luminosity -50%, Centre Size 95%. Just enough to concentrate the eye into the image without being obtrusive. |
