Michael - The leading line of the road leads the eye nicely through the image but, as you say, a wider shot to include the bend of the road in the upper LHS side would have strengthened the image.
Although it was the light on the road in the foreground which attracted you I cannot but help to feel that waiting for the light on the dunes to be stronger would have produced a more satisfying image. As it stands the dunes are rather flat and make up ~50% of the image. I do like the haze over the hills in the background, but would clone out the masts. |

Ed - A very sympathetic portrait of the old man, full of character and evidence of probably a hard life. Just a hint of background detail to add to the story.
I feel that some of the detail in the face is a little indistinct - a little too much dodging? Overall a very good capture. |

Ella - A very peaceful and calming image of Abbey Dordogne -really well composed with the river with the great reflection leading the eye into the image. Gentle lighting and good retention of detail overall. Subtle detail in the sky well preserved and not overprocessed. |

Ian- I really like the symmetry of this image - a great subject for a slow shutter speed shot to give the impression of movement in the water. The breaking waves are a bonus and well placed (by chance!). Detail retained in the groynes too.
A couple of suggestions ...
Darken the base of the image on a graduated Curves layer to bring out more detail in the sand and to balance the image.
Possibly include the skyline to give a better feeling of space and depth? |

John - Great interplay of light and shade and great depth to the image. Highlight and shadow detail well controlled and, of course, the person, so well positioned is key to the image.
Yet another image most of us would have passed by - well seen and executed! |
