When on a workshop the weather is what it is at the designated location for that day! I'm not complaining as I have experienced all sorts of weather on several visits to that location, but have experienced falling snow only once in five winter workshops in Iceland - in Snæfellsnes. |

Gerard - thanks for dropping by our Group and for your comments. We just stopped here for a break on our way back South from Skye and were very lucky to encounter great light.
I agree that cropping from the left rather than from the right maintains the narrative, but I wanted to show the environment in which the castle is situated and the 16x9 crop presented does that for me. Rules are there to be broken! I have no problem with the main subject being central - if it looks right then it is right! |

Ella - a great improvement! You can always use the original image in Nature and see how it goes.
As you have slightly darkened the background you could go a step further and slightly darken the tree. |

Hi Ella - a magnificent image of a magnificent beast and very well captured. I feel that the image would be enhanced by cloning out the tree to the right of the head. |

Hi Ed - an interesting image of the bridge and I think that Ella's flip and edit enhances the image. I query the need to include the sky which tends to drag the eye and which adds little to the image IMHO |

Hi Nick - the Vestrahorn is my favourite mountain in Iceland and I have photographed there on several occasions since 2015 both in winter and summer - winter is best for me.
Like you I was attracted by the reflection of the mountain in the wet black sand and captured a similar composition to yours in February 2019 which I will post for your interest.
As for your version I feel that it could be taken a step further to extract more detail from the snow, put a little bit more drama in the sky and a crop to minimize the dark area of beach in the lower left.
In my interpretation of your image I applied masked Nik CEP 4 Detail Extractor and Pro Contrast layers followed by a series of masked curves and cropped. I also darkened down the sky in the top right corner.
Photoshop does not show any yellow in the snow on the LH side. |

Ian - a well composed and processed image of a subject you clearly love. The crop is spot on and you have captured the feel of the chrome to perfection. The 'flare' noted above does not bother me unduly - that area is less bright than the area with the wolf logo. |

Hi John - the image works in mono for me and I would follow Ella's suggestion to straighten it up, but would not crop. The dark object on the RHS tends to draw the eye and the image would benefit from cloning it out.
To my eye there is adequate detail in the back of the front guy, but the foreground is on the bright side and there is more detail to be had there as shown in Nick's edit which, incidentally, I feel is a step too far. It is a little soft in the background, but the guys appear to be reasonably sharp. |
