Ella - Stephen's interpretation and narrative is fascinating and gives an insight into the image which I would not have seen. Although he favours the fruits in the foreground for me they are a bit of a distraction and the apple in particular tends to dominate the image. Just the opinion of a purely landscape photographer who does not do still life! |

Paul - a very poignant image to remind us all of the atrocities committed against the Jews. Love your composition and flawless processing. No doubt it works well in colour too. |

Ed - a well seen image with a great reflection and great depth - very well processed. As Paul posts a little detail in the sky would help - if it is there on the original scan.
I would echo Ella's thoughts on the original colour version. |

Michael - no doubt about the quality and processing of the image, but the big question in my mind is the suitability of monochrome for this subject - it seems to cry out for colour! |

I really like the concept of this image, but it falls short for me in that the gun is merging with the background and does not stand out. Took me a while even after reading your deor to appreciate the the presence of the gun which, as you posted, was the focal point of the image. His knuckles are burnt out and are distracting IMHO. |

I am in general agreement with the others - the image has potential, but is rather flat and as Paul posts would benefit from the use of Nik Detail Extractor - see rough and ready edit below ...
Nik Detail Extractor + Nik Pro Contrast layers - white point set at 75% opacity on the whitest snow on a masked layer and sky darkened on a masked Curves layer. |
