31 Jan 21 Reply Not really - having decided that the subject matter, composition and lighting are up to scratch I tend to process on autopilot to achieve a previsualised final image, paying particular attention to the tonal range with no distracting blown out highlights or blocked up shadows. In Landscape I am always looking for some drama in the sky. 25 years in the wet darkroom was a real boon in translating to digital processing. Jan 13th

31 Jan 21 Comment Paul - after your comments re. snow last month you come up with a snow scene! Nicely composed and captured with the shutter seed spot on for the waterfall. The reduced scale of the trees above the top of the falls serve to add depth to the image. Jan 6th
31 Jan 21 Comment Ella - without reading your intro I would not have known that the Mustang was a model - great detail in the bodywork, wheels, tyres, etc. Lit to perfection with great detail in the metallic paintwork and well placed in the frame - a great record shot. Jan 6th
31 Jan 21 Comment Ed - a pleasing rural landscape nicely composed with the strong lead in of the track taking the eye up to the farm buildings. I like the foreground - the cattle grid anchors the base and is nicely contained by the timber barriers. Good detail throughout the darker tones and the sky has not been over processed. Jan 6th
31 Jan 21 Comment Ian - as usual a very competent portrait, nicely lit with a good range of tones and textures and the introduced background fits the image perfectly. I do find the partial masking of his right eye a little disturbing - it seems to throw his face a little off balance and could easily be rectified - a very minor nit though! Jan 6th
31 Jan 21 Comment John - a very bold minimalist image which catches the eye - it's hard to miss the bold numbering. Great background textures and the horizontal groove an essential element of the image. On first sight it did not appeal to me at all, but after several views it is now growing on me - a brave presentation! Jan 6th
31 Jan 21 Comment Michael - a fascinating image well spotted! My first impression was of two prehistoric monsters entwined in a somewhat compromising position! Great textures in the wood and a background which does not distract. I feel that the light area in the lower right just below the branch would benefit from being darkened slightly. Jan 6th
