31 Jul 20 Reply Hi Ed - no focus stacking just a single image as usual. The Panasonic Lumix GX8 used for this image has Focus Peaking which works by detecting edges of highest contrast in the scene (and therefore most in focus) and highlighting them in a bright color which enables me to see the area and depth of focus before taking the shot. 31 Jul 20 Comment John - a piece of living history well captured with the bonus that both engines are in steam and alive. Unless fired up steam engines lack emotion and revert in part to inanimate chunks of metal. The left hand engine is a little dark and a touch more detail could be revealed and it is unfortunate that the roller structure is white and so dominant and would benefit from 'dumbing down' a little.
Interesting background information on the line.

31 Jul 20 Comment Ian - this is an image which most of us would have walked by without noticing it! The inclined tree on the left acts as a good lead in and is balanced nicely with the trees on the right, The detail in the sky is a bonus and adds atmosphere and interest.
The trunks are a little dark and there is detail there to be revealed, but they do not want to be too light. There is a blocked up area in the foliage top left which marginally draws the eye.
I could not help but noticing the contrast/sharpening halos around the trunks.

31 Jul 20 Comment Ed - well seen and well processed. Great textures and patterns and a perfect reflection. For my taste I would like to have seen a little more space at the base of the image below the step. Jul 7th
31 Jul 20 Comment Paul - a great candid portrait of the lady and I like the way she is looking away from the lens. The texture in the wall adds greatly to the image the processing is spot on and the gentle lighting a bonus.
I would like to have seen a little more space at the base of the image beneath the bag and I could not but help to notice the contrast/sharpening halos around the black garment.

31 Jul 20 Comment Ella - another superb still life which reminds me of similar images used in advertising. Outstanding quality and tonal range, great lighting and your meticulous image stacking has paid off in full. Very well done.
A fun watch indeed - I could not cope with a watch face without numbers!

31 Jul 20 Comment Michael - I am very much attracted to this image which is nicely balanced compositionally and has the feel of vintage image. I agree with both the previous comments re the power lines and pole and the hot spot in the sky. The sepia toning adds atmosphere to the image although for my taste the image is a little dark overall especially in the water.I would be very inclined to clone out the spindly branches encroaching into the sky along the RHS.
