31 Jun 20 Reply Appreciate the comment re. AA - my inspiration on early visits to Yosemite. Jun 9th
31 Jun 20 Reply Re. contrast print vs monitor - contrast on the monitor is adjustable so it depends on your monitor settings, but in viewing in print form the lighting under which it is viewed can be a factor in the perceived contrast levels. A no win situation! Jun 9th
31 Jun 20 Reply Ed - a great improvement :) Nicely done Jun 8th
31 Jun 20 Comment Ed - A very calm and peaceful scene, well composed and processed - up to a point. The reflections in the river are very attractive, but the bland sky does the image no favours. Jun 6th
31 Jun 20 Comment Ella - an area of Death Valley that I have not visited and your image highlights the barren nature of Cotton Ball Basin.I like the inclusion of the foreground grasses which provide a good base and beyond that the dark streaks in the salt which lead the eye to the distant mountains.

It's a very open image with no real focal point apart from the mountains where the application of a masked CEP 4 Detail Extractor layer might give the image a boost.

31 Jun 20 Comment Paul - a great image and well seen, captured and composed under difficult conditions. The patches of light from the window on the floor and sill are the perfect lead in to the window itself. The processing is top notch - great detail in the walls including the shadow areas and the detail through the window so well brought out. I feel that the image would benefit from a 1 pixel stroke to separate it from the black background of the page.

Nice job!

31 Jun 20 Comment Michael - another fine image of the petroglyphs with a nicely balanced composition. I feel that the tonal balance of the image requires some attention. The top in particular and the lower right to some extent are rather bright and there are some areas of near burnout. Conversely the shadow areas have areas which appear to be blocked up.

Interesting to see the whole film area including the side cut outs.

31 Jun 20 Comment Ian - tremendous depth to this image which adds to the overall impact and the composition is spot on. The geometric shapes in the groyne are fascinating and the reduction in their size moving into the image adds to the depth.

I feel that the image would benefit from a touch more contrast in some areas and the sky has hidden potential which would add a touch of drama if developed.

31 Jun 20 Comment John - At first sight grasses is not the first thing that comes to mind, rather an animal's mane. I like the gentle feel to this image - it has a calming effect in these troubled times and is verging on the abstract. ICM has paid off here while retaining the odd bit of sharpness.

Well processed although I feel that the top left is marginally too bright.Overall I think that a slight vignette would improve the image. I use CEP 4 Darken/Lighten Centre on all of my images - it tends to hold the eye within the image.
