Hi Jerry
Thanks for visiting and your background comments - although I live in the UK I have had the good fortune to visit Horseshoe Bend on 3 occasions in 2010, 2011 and 2012, well before the installation of the safety features etc. The image posted was captured on a workshop visit in November 2012 - not at the best time of day, but the only occasion where there was a decent sky to add a little drama to the scene. My main focus on each visit was to capture Horseshoe Bend in it's entirety and although I captured a few alternative views they did not appeal subsequently.
The atmosphere in your Sun Showers image is fantastic, but for me the image does not shout out the iconic status of Horseshoe Bend without the full curve of the Colorado River. Nevertheless a fine capture and I hope you can resolve the noise issues!

Ella - a really delightful image, a strong composition full of delicate detail and nicely lit. The reflection is so important IMO to the success of the image.
If the image was mine I would be exploring the possibility of eliminating the OOF background - not a straightforward task! |

Paul - nicely composed image with the water leading the eye into the image - against the flow! I don't have an issue with the scale of the scene which I can relate to from past experiences. Should you be wanting a hint more detail in the water a masked CEP4 Detail Extractor layer delivers. |

Ed - I tend to agree with Ella's comment that the water droplet should take centre stage, but nevertheless an attractive image I think it could be made stronger by darkening down the blotchy background area top left - I find that to be a little distracting.
Suggested adjustment and crop below. |

Michael - Until I concentrated more on Photo Travel images the last thing I wanted in my landscapes was people. Photo travel changed that approach and actually leads to more image opportunities.
This is a very personal image I feel, a great family memento which has been well caught and processed. Compositionally I would have liked to see a slightly wider or higher view to include the top of the hoodoos on the right.
I too have walked the Queen's Trail in Bryce on a blisteringly hot day - fine going down, but the drag back to the rim was far from pleasant! |

Hi John - I was attracted to this image as soon as it came up on the screen although I felt that the dark tones of the foliage were dragging my eye away from the mystery of the stairs. Balancing the tones of the foliage to those at the top of the stairs using masked Shadows/Highlights gives a more balanced image IMHO. THe cropped version is very bland and loses much of the pictorial qualities of the original. |
