Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
31 Feb 20 Comment Ella - this image grows on me the more I look at it! Well composed and processed with some essential drama in the sky. I do like the way that the top of the hill falls off from L to R and the fact that two of the fence posts just break the horizon.
I found that a little more detail can be extracted from the posts using Nik CEP 4 Detail Extractor on a masked layer.

31 Feb 20 Comment Paul - a very interesting pattern image which works so well in mono. The main subject, the slightly distorted reflection and the rosettes above all gel together very well. I have the feeling that this image would not work so well in colour. Feb 9th
31 Feb 20 Comment Ed - an interesting image, full of tone and texture and the part open doors certainly invoke a sense of mystery - the window at the end of the building is key here. Very well processed and a slight vignette to darken the edges would add emphasis to the doors.
Take a look at Nik CEP 4 Darken/Lighten Centre - I have made a preset for this which I apply to all PDI's I produce - the very slight vignetting holds the eye within the image.

31 Feb 20 Comment Hi Michael - Good to have another IR exponent in the group! I have shot infra red on both film and digital for over 30 years and currently shoot digitally on a converted Panasonic Lumix G3. See the December 2019 round for one of my latest IR images from the Dolomites (http://psadigital.org/group31/image.php?iid=42640). I find IR to be a life saver when the weather conditions are poor - dull and or raining and have moved away from scenes in which there is no detail in the sky.
I find your image a little traditional and stark - some detail in the sky (not white fluffy clouds, but light feathery clouds) would have given the image more impact with the bonus of some reflected detail in the water which is just black for the most part and featureless.
I took the liberty of further processing your image (see below) and feel that it benefits from the use of Nik Detail Extractor to enhance both the reflection of the tree and the detail in the whites. I also felt that a crop improved the image - in my eyes at least. The addition of a 1 pixel stroke separates the image from the black background of the Board.
It is not my intention to offend, but simply to offer my take on your image. I look forward to seeing more of your IR images in the future.

31 Feb 20 Comment John - a very attractive image which reminds me of Ansel Adams image 'Aspens, Northern New Mexico 1958' which I have a copy of hanging on my kitchen wall.Very well seen and executed - I would consider darkening the tree on the right to give even more emphasis to the silver birch. 31 Feb 20 Comment A very competent portrait of Anita - full of character and I have to agree with Ella re. the highlight in the mouth. Feb 9th
31 Feb 20 Reply Michael - welcome to the Group! Good to have some new blood with fresh views and opinions on our images.

CEP 4 - Color Efex Pro 4, SEP 2 - Silver Efex Pro 2
They are part of the Nik Collection by DxO - a suite of 7 plugins for Photoshop (I use CS6) and Lightroom which I do not use
