Maybe the jpeg compression absorbed the subtle detail in the shadows? |

Ed - an interesting approach to depicting the passage of time - clearly a lot of thought went into this image and you opted for a combination image rather than a slow shutter speed. The image works for me up to a point - the translucent as opposed to blurred legs do not sit comfortably with the sharp upper body - I think this should have been made partially translucent too to add to the feeling of movement. Composition is good with the street on the diagonal and the texture of the wet paved road and the reflections are great. |

Ella - a good record/archival image capturing the detail in both the books and the bookend. Well lit, captured and processed, but it does not hold my attention for very long. |

Paul - I do enjoy images of sand dunes although I have only photographed those in Death Valley. The image has great depth with the repeating dunes and the diffusion towards the horizon. Understandably there is essentially no detail in the shadow areas, but I feel that brightening up the highlights a little gives the image more impact - it is a little flat as it stands. Equally well doubling the amount of sky would add a better balance to the image - IMHO
A 1 to 2 pixel white stroke would concentrate the eye when the image is viewed on a black background |

Ian - a major departure from your normal offerings and one which I must admit to not finding particularly attractive. The layout is rather bland although I have no suggestions for improving it - still life is not my forte!
The LH cuff link being totally black is a little disturbing especially when a face is revealed when a masked Shadows/Highlights layer is applied. Regrettably the image does not hold my attention for more than a few seconds.
