31 Oct 19 Comment Ed - this is very much a fine art image, well seen and composed. I think Paul's edit improves it. I can guarantee that I would have walked past without noticing it while looking for the larger landscape! Oct 21st

31 Oct 19 Reply Beverly - so glad you enjoyed the image and happy to post the original images. Would have done it sooner, but was away photographing the Italian Dolomites.

The 3 images which were combined to produce the finished colour image are shown below. As I noted in the description the mono version had a cross from the churchyard added as well.

31 Oct 19 Comment Ella - another fine portrait - I particularly like his eyes looking straight at the camera - they add a touch of drama to the image. Looking at the enlarged version I think there is a little more detail to be had from the two light areas of his chin and also his left cheek bone.
Overall a very pleasing image!

31 Oct 19 Comment Paul - As soon as I saw this image it reminded me of Ansel Adams and reading your description confirmed this. I like your take on this - maybe as Ella posted a little more detail in the white doorway would be beneficial and I would be inclined to darken the foreground a little too.I have no issues with the background as it stands. The 'y' cloud just above the horizon is a little bright and does tend to draw the eye a little. Oct 11th
31 Oct 19 Comment Rashid - good example of candid/street type photography, well timed and I continue to be amazed at the amount of detail the phone camera is capable of capturing. Great depth and perspective and the timbered roof is an added a bonus to the image. Oct 11th
31 Oct 19 Comment John - I am very fond of trees without leaves so that their structure can be seen - far more interesting than a mushy set of leaves!

Overall I find the image a little flat despite the contrast added during processing and feel that the sky could be made a little more dramatic. As it stands the image might benefit from cropping 16x9 cutting off some of the foreground grass. I also wonder if an alternative crop to exclude the tree on the right would strengthen the image - 4's don't work as well as 3's.

31 Oct 19 Comment Ian - a very tender image- well rendered. I love the expression on the kid's face! I would consider removing or at least reducing the brightness of the light catching the moulding of the skirting board, it is a little distracting. Oct 11th
