31 Jul 19 Reply Stephen - Thanks for dropping by and your comments. I've no idea if the sky trail is a shooting star, a satellite or even the Space Station - whatever I felt that it was a distracting highlight particularly in the mono version, but all subjective of course! Jul 24th
31 Jul 19 Reply With pleasure! This is the Photo Travel version - hence the sky trail and car cannot be removed .... Jul 17th
31 Jul 19 Reply It's not actually a 'road' - it is the shoreline of the sea! And it does lead you to the lit buildings, but, as you say, subjective. Jul 16th
31 Jul 19 Comment Paul - strong composition, super lighting backed up by a dramatic sky. My only gripe is the dark bands on each side of the image - a little overdone IMO, especially on the right side. Jul 15th
31 Jul 19 Comment Ella - an interesting take on this old violin in which the texture of the wood highlights the age of the instrument.A strong composition with diagonal flow and the repairs to the strings faultless. Overall the processing has been handled well, but I feel that the highlight at the base of the bridge is a little bright.

For my taste I would liked to have seen a slightly greater DOF and and a hint more detail in the shadow areas on the left and lower right. All subjective of course, but o'all well lit and well handled.

31 Jul 19 Comment Ed - I would echo Ella's comments re. processing, but for me the image lacks a strong focal point. The leading line of the fence leads the eye to a bunch of trees which are not that interesting and the cattle are too small to be significant in the image IMHO. The lighting looks to be very flat on the day.

In the version below I extracted more detail with Nik CEP4 Detail Extractor and bumped up the contrast on a Curves layer. Also cropped to 16x9 and removed the wires.

31 Jul 19 Comment John - well chosen viewpoint and composition with the railings at the base of the image leading the eye to the curvature of the bridge which then leads the eye through the image. Nothing too distracting in the background and a good tonal range throughout. Certainly depicts City Life! Jul 10th
31 Jul 19 Comment Ian - another dramatic image, but not as strong as last month's image IMHO. The low viewpoint, as before adds the drama. I agree with your assessment of contrast/hotspots especially on the face - the rest of the image is OK although a slight lifting of the shadow areas of the trousers would be beneficial. I think you need to pull more detail out of the beard and to lighten the very dark shadow areas on his face. A pity that there was no rim lighting on his hat - maybe there is a little detail there too?

If this were my image I would be very tempted to clone out the safety harness.

31 Jul 19 Comment Many congratulations Raschid - such a beautiful lady. Wish you many years of happiness together!

You have captured her very well in a good pose with nice shape and form on the face and good detail in the costume. The long sleeves are a bonus in removing distracting hands.

My only criticism is your choice of background - I find the statue rather distracting.

Surprised that you found time to process and post the image - shows real dedication!
