Ian - How fortunate you were to have the opportunity to work with Terry Donnelly and how unfortunate to have to work with an unfamiliar camera/lens combo.
Needless to say a well lit and well executed portrait although I am not entirely taken with the model's expression. I agree with Ella's comment on the hot spots. |

Ella - a location that I visited many years ago and I remember it well!
There is something about the image which causes it to not to settle comfortably in my eyes and I am having difficulty in identifying what it is. Strange as it may seem I am not getting the feeling of depth in the image and overall it seems to be a little flat despite the variation in tonality in the foreground.
I have no wish to offend you, but this is not working for me. I have the feeling that the original colour version would work better. |

Paul - I'm with Ella on this image and echo her comments. A little more space above the head would be beneficial IMHO - the hair on top of the head is marginally cropped off. |

Ed - The calmness and feeling of tranquility of the image is very appealing. The boats are nicely positioned in the frame and I think that retaining detail in the foreground water is important, but I would be inclined to tone down the sky at the top - it is a little overbearing to my eyes. |

Raschid - an interesting rendition of Venus, the sunglasses immediately catching the viewer's attention turning what would have been a straight record shot into a creative image.
I find it somewhat attractive - not really my 'cup of tea', but would agree with Ella that the 'hair' on the top of the head has lost some texture and detail. The tonality of the rest of the image is fine by me. |

John - Isaac's comment above regarding the highlights mirror my initial reaction when I first saw your image a few days ago and toning them down draws the viewers attention to the pattern and textures of the rope. It could be argued that the highlight areas are a little over subdued in Isaac's version, but it's all subjective of course. |
