31 Sep 18 Reply "What is a 3 pix grey stroke?" - see my reply to your question under Ian's image. A stroke line can be any colour/width you desire! Sep 16th
31 Sep 18 Reply Ed - the outline to Ian's image is a 2 pixel white stroke.

In PS & probably Elements too when you have resized a copy of your original psd to say 1400x1050 for submission you can then apply a 2 pixel white border using the Stroke command ...
Select the image using Ctrl+A
Set Foreground colour to White
Edit > Stroke and set the Stroke width to 2px, check colour is white and location Inside > OK
Deselect the image using Ctrl+D and save as jpg.

31 Sep 18 Comment Hi Ella - What a great opportunity to be able to view the glacier from above and to see all the detail which is invisible from the ground. The curve of the glacier leads the viewer nicely into the image and the textures on the ice are amazing! A good tonal range with detail in the blacks holding up well.
The only suggestion I have to improve the image - and this is of course subjective is to crop the image to 16x9 - your call!

31 Sep 18 Comment Paul - Last month's image is still clear in the mind and inevitably a comparison is made with that and the current image. I like the idea of including the moon, but am unsure of the cut off lighting on the Ferris wheel. I think that the image would be stronger with the lighting on the wheel similar to that of last month's image, i.e. extending to the bottom of the frame.

IMHO this image cries out for a stroke line to define the boundaries of the image.

31 Sep 18 Comment Hi Ed - I too like your composition and I have no issues with the tree being central - the 'rules' are there, if indeed there are any rules and rules are there to be broken!

I agree with Ella that the image is rather flat - applying a Curve and selecting the Increase Contrast preset improves it no end and you could go further.

31 Sep 18 Comment Rashid - A first class image in which the quality, composition and processing are close to perfection - a great range of tones and texture and the final toning of the image is just right. The extension of the image across the border is the icing on the cake!

As is the case with portraits the viewer should be able to draw some assessment of the character of the person from the image - in this image the multiple rings work in the same way.

Really well done!

31 Sep 18 Comment John - I think this image is well seen - it would have been so easy to have captured a pure record shot, but from the angle you have taken it and the overall composition you have a pictorial image. The strong diagonal of the stairs leads you across the image and the repeating pattern in the steel work maintains interest. The corner of the bridge itself adds depth to the image and the sky is unobtrusive, but has essential detail. Sep 9th
31 Sep 18 Comment Technically excellent with great lighting and detail and the crop is spot on. Thank goodness you had a cloudless sky that night - any clouds would have been a distraction Sep 9th
