Ed - I am in two minds about your image! I like the juxtaposition of the two cacti, but agree with the others that overall the image is very flat and does not convey your previsualisation of the textures and sharp needles.
I also find that the sky with it's strong patterning and somewhat darker tones is drawing my eye away from the main subject. |

Super portrait with great detail which benefits from the increase in contrast. The original post is rather flat and looks over exposed. |

Paul - now you're talking! - the difference between this and the last you posted from this area is akin to chalk and cheese! IMHO
The dramatic lighting on the peaks coupled with a threatening sky combine to produce a powerful image, and the V formation of the foreground is a good base for the peaks. |

Rashid - a very relaxed portrait of the surgeon(?) with good, natural side lighting to reveal the facial features. The pose looks very natural and the reflective mood of the subject comes across well.
I agree with Ella that the figures in the panel in the background are a little distracting and I would suggest reducing their brightness rather than removing them. I wonder if the image would benefit from a slight increase in contrast. |

John - the composition and flow of the image is well handled, the eye moving from the figure to the tower to the church spire.
I would agree that the image lacks contrast and appears very flat - I don't find it particularly busy, but would agree with Ella re cropping off most of the trees on the RHS. |

Ian - A very dynamic and aggressive image which portrays the nature of the beast pefectly. Super lighting and processing - you did well to overcome your equipment failure! |

Safety is always of prime concern of course. We traveled in a Toyota 4WD minibus with studded tyres and never had a problem anywhere in the NW despite the snow and ice. For my part I wore grips (Yak Trax) on my boots all the time and never slipped.
As you have been to Godafoss in the summer - I am returning there at the end of June around the Summer Solstice - I have attached the colour version below ....
