Welcome Ed, good to have you aboard!
I like the simplicity and grittiness of the image as well as the composition. I agree with the comments above re. straightening up the verticals as that makes the image rest easier on the eye. I would also suggest dropping the highlights a little as shown below.
Looking forward to your comments on the other images in this round.

Paul - agreed - looking at the original capture the 'grain' can just be detected and it has been enhanced by the vigorous processing. |

Yes - the separation was important! and with hindsight a step to the right would have moved the peak of the rock away from the end of the church, but I can't remember if that would have been possible - I think I was standing on another rock to get the height for the separation as shown. |

I agree with Paul's comments - a nicely balanced group of elephants in which the high sun illuminating their backs has given them some shape and form. Pleasing detail in the sky and I like the recession in the distant hills.
My only nit is the lack of breathing space between the top of the tree and the image frame which appears to be covering a few leaves. |

Very nicely done Paul - the choice of shutter seed is spot on IMO and detail in the water has been retained almost throughout. The inclusion of the dead leaf gives the image a lift and a hint of the tropical location. The lack of any sky at the top and the darkish base concentrate the eye on the fall itself.
Maybe a touch more contrast on the rocks would add a little extra punch to the image? |

The lighting in this still life is so well controlled to retain the feeling of the glass. I do like the use of the reflection in the bottle as a third object which also serves to give more depth to the image.
A minor point, but I wonder about the discontinuous rim light on the rim of the bottle - would the image be improved if the rim light was continuous? I really don't know - very subjective of course! |

John sorry to say that I struggle to find anything attractive in your image - a pattern picture, yes, but no focal point and the textures in the brickwork and reflection are not strong enough to hold my interest. |

An exquisite image captured to near perfection - a strong composition, super rim lighting and the light source at the top of the frame, far from being a distraction is vital to the image. Very nicely done Ian. |
