Paul - I can only echo the comments above - very nicely done - I would not alter anything. |

The dark mood, the subtle rim lighting and the action and placement of the people all combine to produce an outstanding, well balanced image with good depth. The timing of the capture is perfect with the donor’s left foot off the ground. Very well done! |

Ella - A you probably know I use the High Pass filter on all jpegs that I produce, both for posting here and for Int Exhibitions.
For an image of this size I would use 0.9 pixels and Soft Light blending mode. If I feel that the effect is too much I reduce the opacity of the High Pass layer before flattening and conversion to jpeg. Important to sharpen at the output size of the image.
Do you recall what pixel setting you used? |

That sounds like a great trip!Makes a change to see an elephant sitting rather than standing and the image is very well composed. The textures in the skin have been handled really well and the limited depth of field separates the elephant nicely from the background. |

The receding hills on each side of the loch draw the viewer into the landscape and give the image depth. The dramatic sky adds great atmosphere and complements the lighting on the water. A little more detail in the hills would help I feel and the white buoy would be better removed.
I feel that you could have done more in the processing of the sky - there are areas which are almost burnt out. No doubt detail could be recovered in these areas by selectively masking the Color Efex and Viveza layers. There is also a degree of haloing where the hills meet the sky - easily removed. A minor point, but I would have been tempted to clone out the power pylons. |

As soon as I opened the page it was clear that the character related to Star Wars and that was before I had scrolled down to see the title. It's a fine portrait, but I have a gripe about the hands which seem very flat and almost plastic in nature and the lighting on them is not in keeping with the rest of the image. The eyes are very distinct which is a necessity rather than a bonus.
The black background works well - unfortunately your thumbnail of the original scene does not show. |
