IMO the inclusion of the ventilation grill is a real bonus in that it provides a stopper at the end of the line of columns. |

Thanks for your comment Rashid! The image certainly works flipped, but as it is an iconic location flipping may offend some viewers who are familiar with the place.
I would have loved to put more space between the church on the left, but there is a hotel there (the only other building in the area part of which has already been cloned out. |

John - "Could it be rain or snow moving in?" May be in the distance, but it never reached the church. O'all a bit of a puzzle, but as noted above the processing of the sky was pretty aggressive. |

Ian - unfortunately the Iceland trip from which I have just returned (in one piece!!)was a total washout. 10 days of almost continuous rain, gale force winds (50-100 mph), no snow on the ground and unsurprisingly no aurora - ce la vie! |

Ella - as I noted in the image description "It is similar to one from February 2015 which was posted here November 2015, but has a much stronger sky", so, yes, you have seen it before under a different light. |

The 'noise' on the right hand side is not apparent in the original capture, but is revealed by the application of tonal contrast and becomes more pronounced as the processing proceeded. The processing of this image may have been rather aggressive to get the detail I was looking for out of the sky, but I can offer no explanation as to why it should be concentrated in that area. |

Very nicely done, Ella - a well arranged composition with a great tonal range. Certain flowers seem to be equally well at home in mono or colour and lilies are in that group for sure. |

I agree with John - the image of the youngster framed by the lower part of, presumably, the mother is far more powerful than a wider shot. You have caught the baby elephant in a good pose with the rear leg raised and the trunk running parallel to mother's leg.
I suspect that this works very well in colour too, but the mono version is very effective. I wonder how it would look with a little more contrast - it is marginally flat to my eyes. |

A well captured image which is both photojournalism and pictorial. I love the juxtaposition of the two heads and the intense expression on the face of the guy holding the placard.
Pictorially I think we would say that the placard is a little bright and draws the eye, but for photojournalism it is OK I guess. |

You have certainly achieved your planned objective with this image! The girl is perfectly positioned and the repeating columns in the background add depth and interest to the image and have a pleasing symmetry.
The processing has been very well handled with one exception - the very strong sharpening halos around the girl and to a lesser extent elsewhere. These are so simple to remove - in Photoshop at least (I do not use Lightroom) and once removed enhance the image. It is my standard practice to check for halos in every jpeg I prepare for International Exhibitions and to remove them - they offend my eye and detract from the o'all image quality. |

In addition to the comments already made with which I agree I feel that the image is a little flat and lacks punch. A touch of Tonal Contrast from Nik Colour Efex could work wonders. |

Well captured spur of the moment shot, background is 'as was' and would benefit from a degree of softening as Paul has suggested. - what fascinates me is that he is playing a double bass, which has no visible means of support, as a guitar! |
