40 Jul 19 Comment The lighting on Jack's face is terrific. It's direction as well as the amount is very good. His shirt, hand and the chair are a little too hot and distract somewhat from his face. If you can, I'd try to tone them down a bit. Another suggestion would be having him wear a solid color dark shirt. I have found that in portraiture, costuming is important and many times, especially when taking close ups, plain and simple is best. Jul 19th

61 Jul 19 Comment An excellent model. The lighting on his face is good and shows great detail and is perfect for this kind of a portrait of a man. The lighting on his front sleeve makes this the brightest part of the image and distracts from his face. You have done a good job of keeping detail in the sleeve, so maybe using a Go Between would tone it down without you having to change your lighting set up. A little separation from his head and the background would be nice. In this case, the black background is a good choice and a well aimed hair light would take care of the lack of separation.. 61 Jul 19 Comment The lighting on Yukata is nice and the pose very interesting as well as photographically challenging. I do wonder what she is trying to tell us. She almost looks defiant, but I can't be sure. The light on the window is fairly bright and draws the viewer's attention away from Yukata. I am finding with my own photography as I do with this image that many black models end up with an orange tint to their skin that I don't notice in real life. One of my models complained about it, so until I find a better solution, I have been reducing the saturation. Jul 9th
61 Jul 19 Comment Good colors and it's good that the model is looking back at the camera. I wonder if you have over smoothed his skin. A few wrinkles might make the picture more believable. If possible could you have included more or all of the guitar. The background is fantastic, especially the dog, Jul 9th
61 Jul 19 Comment This image is technically well done. His expression is great. I'm not sure if the background helps or hinders. I find myself studying it. Maybe if it was out of focus it would strengthen the picture. Jul 9th
61 Jul 19 Comment It was her idea to jump, so I didn't feel too sorry for her. The weights are ours and it was my idea to add them. It took us 6 tries to get what she wanted. I was trying to get a 100% freeze and was worried that it might not work out. This was taken in the daytime and I was afraid that the room might not be dark enough, but it was. If I do this again I'll see if I can show some motion blur. Jul 9th
