Apart from the unique capture, I congratulate you Kaylyn for being there under those conditions. Yes, I go along with the cropping, but I feel that this image would be much better presented in a horizontal format. |

Very nice capture of this butterfly and I like what Al did with it. As we know, photography requires a lot of patience, but especially with butterflies. It does not pay to chase a butterfly hand held. Expert butterfly photographers fix a camera on a tripod on a special flower and wait. The butterfly will go from flower to flower and will return to the same flower more than once. |

Those lucky shots do happen and you are fortunate to get this one. You have sufficient color, sharpness and detail, but cropping the feet of the egret is a no, no, especially in competition. I think this image is worth taking the time to select the feet and placing him/her on a rock or keep the part of the railing as well. As it is, it may give the impression of the bird standing on air. |

Yes, this is an excellent 'Wild Life' image and Al did a very nice job of creating a separation between the moose and the background. |

Yes Mike, that may be so, but I think that in trying to fix the shadow, it may spoil the look. At the same time the shadow could gives the impression as a shadow or reflection of this dolphin. |

Sorry for any confusion. Apparently and inadvertently, I must have deleted the original image. However, other than some cropping, the original was pretty much of what you see. It is the very next image after the original sample. I never had, nor wanted the full image of the man. |

Much of what Mike says I can go along with, but this is a nature picture and at times these mergers are acceptable. As for the wavy lines in the background, they are also in the original and perhaps they are out of focus foliage. The blown out area helps to show the outline of the elk. The biggest problem is the heavy branch at the top right corner. I suppose it could be cloned out, but it would mean a lot of work, which in the long run it probably would not pay, because I do not think that the result would produce a competition pictorial image. However, as part of a story it is an acceptable image. I do notice that the tree trunk on the left is taking some of the attention and it could help to tone it down and soften the sharpness. |
