Kaylyn, apart from what has been said, this is a great location to photograph not only in the early morning and late evening, but any time of the year. It is an excellent location to study light and composition. I hope it is convenient for you to get to. Yes, I think that toning down the background a bit and cropping some of the sky, will help. |

Apparently, not all birds need to be exotic. This is a lovely capture and good composition. I feel that cropping a bit from the left and leaving mote room at the top, would give this a better visual effect. Is that light coming through the nostrils of the seagull?

Welcome to the Group Al and I look forward to sharing with you. I too run into the difficult situations such as what you and Mike described. You have found a good way of dealing with it. Particularly, I love you capturing a moment of interaction between the horses. The bright red on the left is part of the story, but it is drawing my eye to it. Using the same technique, I wonder if you would consider another version including the driver as part of the story?

Jerry, this is thinking outside of the box and well executed. Mike and Al expressed it very well. I particularly love the crispness you achieved and the background effect. Not sure if it would create a better effect, but perhaps crop to the elbow on the right and give a bit more room on the left would help.

Technically good or not, this is a lovely picture and one that I would love to capture, but never am I in the right location. The composition is good and you did bring out the colors nicely. Not sure if I would totally eliminate the tree filler at the top left, but perhaps capture less of it and more from the foreground. Perhaps it is an optical illusion, but to me it feels like it is falling to the left a bit.

This is an excellent image for the theme of 'shadows'. Removing the car is fine, but even with it, it is acceptable for me. Fixing the curb should not be a problem for you. I agree about the longer shadows and a bit of brightness would help too.
