Catherine, I like the way you worked the clouds and captured the bridge. I do not know how difficult it is to move about the bridge approach but if you could move to the right, closer to the approach, it would be a nice lead in.
I'm ok with the sky and clouds - when you are crossing a big bridge, this is what you see and feel. |

Ling, Ling, I believe this is a beautiful capture of Burges which is not normally photographed. The street lights and their reflection in the canal along with the few lighted building windows add a lifelike touch.
Presumably you took the picture from a bridge and centered yourself to snap the picture. Another equally valid option would be to take the picture from the left or right walkway, thus having a lead in line to the background. Great image! |

Janice, weathered and worn is perfect for your club theme. I find I am partial to your color rendition but maybe that is because I like color. As this isn't far from your house, how about going out at different times of day and shoot from different angles. You might end up with an interesting collection.
The others have some interesting suggestions. |

Well Don, you certainly have fun playing with San Francisco buildings. I am ambivalent about this image. I like the light and dark repetition of rectangles. The lighter ones draw my eyes as a center of attention. Then I notice detail on the lower rooftop and wonder if it is a patio. I wonder about the buildings - are these office windows or condo windows. There is a tremendous amount of visual material to work with and crop in the original image. Black and white is great. This image could be abstract or straight, artist's choice.
Don, keep working on your buildings!
Now I have read the comments of the others. I am not concerned about the alignment of the vertials. In fact I would like them more out of alignment so that the viewer really feels looking up at the buildings.
I am blessed with a wife who gives me an honest opinion. Of course it may not be what I am trying to convey but it tells me what someone else is seeing. |

Andrew, try moving the camera on a tripod just a fraction of a degree rather than several degrees. |

Hi Don, thanks for the comments. As to the smoke trails, it was a very humid day over Lake Superior which I think caused vapor trails, all of the same color. In fact, the show had to be abbreviated because of an approaching thunderstorm. Come visit any time - we have a guest bedroom. |
