Catherine, you have such a wonderful eye for finding interesting subjects. Finding a minimal subject is one of them. Here, I wonder if a small foreground object would anchor a minimal image. Perhaps cropping in on the bottom would make the grass clump do the trick. Perhaps even cropping off some of the cloudy sky would also help.
Janice, Don, and Julie have some interesting ideas. Keep working on your minimalist ideas. |

Ling Ling, your concept of a calm pastoral scene is well taken and recorded. The sheep, dog, and possibly the foreground rocks are an integral part of the scene. Now, as to my personal preference, the balance is slightly off. I would prefer a landscape format with more space extending out the right side. What do you think? |

Janice, yes, I would consider this high key. I think what you are doing here is artist preference, so whatever you do is right for you.
Now, for a variation, if I were doing this, I would reduce the brightness of the background to separate it more from the branch and apple blossoms which should be the center of interest.
Don, Julie, and Catherine have some good ideas. |

Well Don, I think this is a great image, balancing the blacks and whites but in truthfulness, I am not a fan of black and white, particularly blocked up black.
Now, after reading the other comments, I have a better understanding of what you were doing. Nice work. |

Julie, to me you captured the black kite perfectly, wings spread, eyes highlighted and moving left to right as some critics like. I can think of no further suggestions. Great image! |

Andrew, I like your inclusion of pedestrians to add interest and context and your cropping. I think this is great as is and have nothing to add. Great image. |

Thanks Janice. A change in the background color might be helpful as you suggest but actually that is actually stone, granite I believe, but I could blur it more. Generative fill I have not tried yet. |

Hi Julie, good suggestions. I can't do anything about the cropping but I did tone down the leaves and some of the background highlights. I think the correction looks better.
What do you think? |
