Thanks Catherine. I agree the red flowers should have been deleted or reduced. |

Thanks Andrew, yes blocking out the brown foliage might be helpful.

Catherine, great black eyed susan impressionistic image. Your foreground is clear while the background becomes impressionistic. Your cropping brings out more of a center of interest in the foreground.
Are you familiar with the work of Charles Needle who you can Google on line. His book Impressionistic Photography has lots of ideas to try. |

Lin, you are having fun working with the moon. I am not very experienced with night shots but I think in post processing you could reduce the green cast. I shall be interested to see how your work progresses. |

Jamie, this is a wonderful capture of coneflowers. It is sharp and well cropped. Now, as another variation of flowers, after you make the panorama, you might walk around, find some interesting blossom to be a center of interest for your composition. I often do both images and I carry in my pocket wire twisters and small clamps so that I can isolate an individual or small clump of blooms. Maybe you already do this and did not mention it in your description. |

Julie, great action and human interest image! I like the reflections in the water. Your cropping is good. This would be a great video from your observations of how the gulls worked. |

Andrew, this is an interesting photograph of something I have never seen before. I think you may have cropped a little too tightly to get rid of extraneous material. Perhaps you could have cloned out those two items. |

Thanks Nadia. I seem to be in an extreme color period. |

Brian, thanks for your comments and the 90 degree rotation which I think is an improvement over my version. And yes, this could be an insect fallen into a pitcher plant.
I like to do impressionistic effects where maybe there is a little bit of the original object but it is abstracted and modified, sometimes quite wildly. |

Brad, good ideas on working with this image.
As to the filter gallery not working, here is what I have tried:
In PS filter gallery, when I attempt to apply one of the filters, it does not show either as a sample or as applied after I choose 'apply'. In the lower left a blue line does show that it is processing but the screen image remains unchanged. But in history there is no record of the filter.
Here is what I am using:
Adobe PS 22 (monthly update)
PSD or Canon CR3 file or JPEG FILE
8 bit depth
If I use filter galley filters, click say 'underpainting', in the lower left a blue line worm extends right, then clicks off. No underpainting result shows on the image.
If I click ok, nothing is applied and the original image returns.
If I look at the history window, no underpainting step shows.
So presumably nothing is being applied to the original image.
If I use other filters than 'filter gallery' such as distort> spherize, blur gallery, adoptive wide angle, or liquify, it is applied and appears on the image.
So I must have something set incorrectly or maybe PS is corrupted. This condition has existed for some months but I didn't attempt to correct it until now. If I go back to a 2018 CR2 file, I get the same no result although I am sure in 2018 I must have applied filter gallery to some files and had it work.
Any ideas?

Hi Tom, you have a good point that one cannot see the flower any more. I should just call it an abstraction. I like the color blending of the background but the foreground center of interest isn't there. I need to do some more work on a center of interest. |

Lisa, you have taken a simple flower image and made it an impressive artwork. I like the liquify modification and the mixer brush application.
I have no suggestions for improving this image which I would like on my wall. |

Julie, treehouse has a lot going for it. I like the cat looking out and the chickens poking about the yard. I like the blending of the background. The doorway feels a little odd to me, as through it were pasted on like a picture frame on a wall.
Now I have read Tom and Brad's technical comments in which they are much more skilled than I am, as are you. You all have good ideas. I like your idea of creating depth in the room. Could you somehow create some floor space between the cat and the stove to create a feeling of depth? |

Tom, great odyssey. Your ability to compost your imagination really shines through. Now, an odyssey definition being a long search, I don't think it quite fits here. Is your wife on an odyssey or the ape? Nitpicking for which I apologize.
I really, really like the way you have seamlessly composted this with ape, the elephants, and your wife blended together. The expression of the ape and the eyes are priceless and it is the center of interest.
Brad and Julie have worthwhile comments.
How about titling it Evolution Diversity indicating that humans, elephants, and apes have all evolved in different qways. |

Brad, "peaceful" it is in your image. All the elements, the waterfall, the dark sky and the stars combine to create a wonderful composite. Another time you can work on star trails.
I am guessing that you used a wide angle lens or tilted your camera up slightly to include more sky. Nice effect. It would be interesting to do another image without keynoting to see which is better. (I'm not sure keynoting is the right word but I'm using it to indicate you tilted your camera up slightly.) |
