Catherine, great that you are trying milky way pictures and willing to use your jeep hood as a fill in tripod. The trees in the center are reasonably straight but the trees on the left are slanting to the right. I don't know what caused this but see if you can find some way to correct it. |

Lin I like this with your having the moon above the fountain. Moon shots which include street lights are difficult because the street lights burn out. Perhaps a HDR image could help tame down the extreme contrast.
Andrew has some good suggestions. |

Jamie, I like reflections, especially in b & w. The next time you are shooting reflections, how about including something that can be a center of interest, perhaps some water reeds or something else that is present. Or maybe just a bit of the pilings to show what is being reflected in the water. |

Don, I like the b & w version better and think it is really great. The contrast is good and really brings out the design of the window and the building. The left hand building wall could be toned down slightly as it is beginning to burn out. |

Lin, I like your crop. As to what they are doing and what is their behavior, well, they were showing off their costumes to me the photographer but what the wings signify, I do not know. |

Julie I think you captured these young birds perfectly. I like the sharpness of the eye of the bird looking at the camera. I'm not sure which, the original or your final image has the correct white balance but the original looks more white. I am finding that if I do not crop tightly when I take photographs, then I have room to crop artistically. If this were not cropped tightly to begin with, you might have such room to crop artistically if you so desired.

Well Andrew, along with all your other talents, you are a great bird photographer. Perhaps you could lighten the image slightly and pump up the contrast. But then again, this is a great heron as is. |

Hmm, Lisa, I like your galaxies. It is an abstraction that works far better than the original star trails.

Nadia, wonderful composting using the exquisite ex-ballet dancer as the nexus of the image. Now, as a different artistic placement, I would move the dancer higher so that her feet were closer to the horizontal line. This might also entail lengthening the right light pole higher. Then I might try to move the left light pole and that side further to the left. Possible to do? Well, I don't know. The gulls are a wonderful accent. |

Tom, the mirrored starting point was great, the kayaker the finishing touch. B&w is great but I would like a colored version too. This image is nicely balanced but maybe a touch more water foreground would be interesting.
Julie, Brad, and Nadia have interesting thoughts. |

Naida, thank you for your comments. You suggest enhancing the background image - as a starting point, what would you do to enhance it? |

Well Julie, I like the clarity and sharpness of the objects in your image and I like the flowing curves of the lines. I am overwhelmed with the variety of software and their application in creating this work of art. You have combined mundane objects into a fabrication of your artistic imagination. I have no further suggestions.
Julie, welcome to the group. I checked your bio and followed to your site on monarch butterflies. What an interesting and exciting exploration you have into their life cycles and individual lives! Your posts will challenge me to grow. |

Brad, I'm impressed with the steps you applied to come out with this beautifully balanced composite. The desaturation works, the pin imparts 3 dimensionality, and the color works. Suggestion - I would have some tonal separation of the lower left corner of the pinned photograph to make it more distinct from the background. Wow, you are really going over the top in your creations!
I think your reply to Julie is correct. |
