Thanks Catherine. I thought of cropping in on the left too. I guess either way is good. |

Catherine, what fun to have a new lens and be playing with it! You did a good job of getting the heron sharp hand held. The stick on the left that you worked on - why not take it all out down to the crotch? You could also clone out the stick below it and blur the green vegetation in the background to center interest on the heron. Keep having fun with that lens!
The suggestions above could be helpful. |

Alison, how about blurring out the surrounding leaf litter and cropping in. I had a hard time distinguishing the doll from the leaf litter.
Andrew and Julie have some good ideas. |

Jamie, it is probably more than thirty years since I have been in Lower Antelope Canyon so obviously my memory of the color is totally inaccurate. But maybe one doesn't want accurate color anyway. I wanted to see if I could make the colors more striking. In PS Camera Raw I basically played with tint, color mixer, and color grading sliders to pep up the image. This may be way off what you had in mind, but I offer it as a color variation.

Don, I prefer your black and white version for this image. It just has a better feel that the color. In cropping, I would take slightly more off the bottom and leave a little more on the top so the sun rays wouldn't terminate at the margin but this is just a personal preference. Great image! |

Ah yes, Andrew. I wanted to get rid of the indistinct bud near the bottom. I should have cloned it out and then cropped a little less tightly. |

Julie, I really like this gull portrait. There is great action in the wings, the cropping is good, and everything is sharp. For me personally, I would like the image slightly lighter if it can be done without blowing out the highlights on the wings.
I have just at Martin's rendition. It is definitely lighter, more contrasty, and more dramatic. But when I compare it with your version, I think yours is more subtle. I like equally both versions, they are each just artistically different. |

Andrew, I think you did a great job, the lines are straight and you handled the difficult lighting. Did you strain your neck looking up or lie on your back?
The comments of the others who have been in the Church of Spilled Blood are interesting. |

Thanks Julie, yes lightening up the top flower would be beneficial. |

Ah Brad, another one of your skilled composites! You so ably blend together different elements into an image. Your title, Exodus, leaves me a little confused. Your cars are going into a waterfall, not getting away from it. Maybe the cars should be disappearing into a distant land. |

Nadia, you created a moody composite that captures the feeling of the lockdown period. At first I thought it was too dark but after thinking about it the darkness and texture bring out the mood of the lockdown years. Great work! |

Tom, nice composite! You pulled the heron, a small object, out of another image, blew it up and got it sharp. The fish is a nice addition as is the flying heron in the background. |

Brad, all your suggestions are valid and worth attempting. I have long admired what you create so I will continue working away at improving my composite compositions. Anyway, I had fun working with an art piece of my wife, changing the color and placing it in another image. With spring on the way, I should have more outdoor images to work with. |
