Hi Alison,
As you suggested, I went back into my original raw file, opened is in PS camera raw, played with the sliders. Then in PS I used the burn tool, highlights and darkened the burned out area in the lower right. Not perfect but much better. Thanks.
Well, not much better. In my computer it is better but when I try to place the udated file on our website, it doesn't really look better. Anyway, I get the idea. Again thanks. |

Exquisite Catherine. You have a gift of finding the most simple subjects and creating them into restful, thoughtful images worthy of deep contemplation. The pink tone - it is fine and adds to the allure. But today, being in Minnesota winter, the starkness of ice without a pink tinge would be equally as engaging.
Please keep your delicate muse alive and growing in your photographic explorations. |

Alison, you really worked to capture the feeling of Madame Scherri's Castle. The snow, the intruding forest, and the lonely stone walls speak to this.
I would suggest lightening up the snow. If you should go to the Castle again, I would suggest finding something that would be a center of interest to be in the foreground. You may have been doing this with the wall on the right. |

Yes Jamie, this brings a smile to my day! Your models positioned themselves perfectly between the continents. There is nothing I can suggest to improve this wonderful image. |

Hi Don, what a great capture of an iconic graffiti covered bridge! Your post processing really made it pop with clouds showing and the graffiti colors producing excitement in an otherwise blah concrete bridge. Nik Viveza I am sure helped make the colors pop. Your positioning to get the railing in the right foreground and the bridge running into the trees in the background are masterful depth perception techniques. |

Julie, you captured a super action shot! Congratulations!
I thought about spot cloning out the fence pipes in the background but then decided they add perspective of how high the rider is in the air. The positioning of the boy is great with lots of room for him to ride into.
The next time you go by this skate park, try some slow speed panning shots along with highspeed shots. Then see which you like best.
Now that I read Don's comments, he has some good ideas about capturing motion. In capturing waterfalls, which in a way is similar to this, I find sometimes I like a tack sharp image as you have done here and sometimes I prefer the blurred image which is why I say do both. Have fun! |

Andrew, I agree that the evening light is quite pleasant, in fact really pleasant.
I struggle with your top cropping. I like that you have included some background detail which fills out the locale. But the cropping is a little tight. Perhaps your original image did not have much more background to show.
I agree with Don's comments and interested in your response. |

Hi Don, yes you did a better cropping.
I struggle to fill in burned out highlights. Somewhere I have a suggestion on how to do it. I will have to find that and start using it.
Thanks again. |

Don, you caught me. Yes, I was trying to do some hiding on the bottom of the image and also cropped in too tight. I should have been more careful in my setup. The highlight on the bottom was burning out.
Thanks for your comments. |

Lisa, yes, Ansel would have liked Photoshop but what about Immogene Cunningham in the background of the Ansel image?
This is another of your impeccable composite compositions which speaks volumes.
I have no suggestions

Nadia, you have perfected a technique that really works for you. I find this a beautiful calming image of a young woman in a forest scene.
I find the woman a little sharp in contrast to the diffuse, soft background which may have been your intent. As an alternative, could you slightly soften the outline of the woman so she blends in more? |

Tom, your skill in creating flawless composites shines here! The birds (crows?), tree limbs, and blue green toning combine into an eerie recollection.
Personal nitpicking - would making you slightly smaller and moving you slightly to the right change anything? |

Susan, a wonderful composite! Your playing with the blending modes worked out. The sandstorm worked out.
Now this is a personal comment but to me the license plate detracts from the overall image. I would be tempted to clone it out and let the sheep scull be the foreground. |

Brad, your imaginative composite is admirably done! The glitter filter on the man works, the blending of the images is flawless, and the relative increased size of the flower works.
I cannot think of any way to improve on what you have created. Topnotch! |
