Catherine, your eye always finds interesting subjects and compositions that most observers don't see. These Christmas ornaments are a good creation and capture! I'm not sure if the fairy lights do much for me but I wouldn't take them out. The lighting and reflections work. Well, what are you going to tempt us with next month? |

Alison, this is an interesting capture of number 4. However, I would like to see more detail. You have a canon 5d which has a good chip. Try experimenting with high ISOs to bring in more shadow detail. And try HDR as you suggest, either tripod or hand held. You can reduce noise in post processing.
Now, having read your further comments and those of the others, I think you have a real challenge to try again. You can get some detail in the shadows and really have an interesting image or series of images. |

Jamie, I like this but wish you had used a better camera than your cell phone. You might have been able to have the rock in sharp focus while leaving the water milky. But use whatever you have.
I liked the comments of the others above which have lots of suggestions. |

"Bonnie and Clyde were here" is perfect naming! Turning this into a color image makes it much better than the original. You did a lot of processing to bring excitement into this image - still, I wonder if heightening the contrast would add a little more snap. Nice job!
I really enjoyed reading the comments of others. As I have traveled in rural areas, I instantly realized these were bullet holes, which are common on junker cars, signs, and mail boxes. You had fun with this one! You must enjoy traveling to historical mining sites in California and Nevada. |

Mujambi is certainly regal which your close cropping has captured. I think you were correct to crop out the distracting background. Monochrome works - if you heightened the contrast, it might make Mujambi even more regal.
Great picture! |

Andrew, I like it! There is tension in his expression and grip on the train. There is tension in how he is holding his travel schedule. There is bokeh in the background and I like you have included the background because it shows that this is not an urban setting.
The face of the man on the ground is almost not discernable - how about, if you can, including more of his face. It includes another point of interest for the viewer's eye traveling around the image. In this respect, I differ with the others above who wish to clone him out.
Andrew, I never see your original image posted. Is that because you are not including it or because my computer isn't finding it.
Great image! |
