Catherine, I like your journeys into impressionism and abstraction. In my first glance at this I thought it was slender small tree trunks. Well, in abstraction we all see what we want to see from our previous experiences.
I confess, I have bubbling anticipation each month to see what interesting image your are going to use to excite and expand our minds. Keep at it. It is so much fun to see what you are seeing!
It is interesting to see what responses you get as evidenced by Don and Alison above. |

Alison, I think you did a magnificent job of capturing the milky way and muting the city. Having not done celestial events myself, I don't know what challenges you faced but you did a good job. Keep at it and see what you come up with. |

Jamie, I like your cropping, I like your contemplative result. I like to balance of light and dark. I like that this is black and white. The rocks aren't sharp? Well, that's ok in this moody image.
Nice work!
Don and Alison have good ideas. |

Don, your cropping appeals to me. There is a sense of balance between the doors on the right side and the absence of strong yellow on the left side. Your contrast enhancement does a great job of bringing out the yellow.
Alison has some good ideas but I still like your interesting balance of detail on the right side and less detail on the left side.
And I think you made the right decision to crop off the right side of your original image. |

Alison, nice crop and good suggestions. I was so into the overall image that I forgot the details, something I often do.
HDR: I don't know what camera you use but my Canon can be set to bracket and if I set the camera to high speed it bangs the bracket out without pause. Thus there is not much movement between shots. Then, as I mentioned, in Camera Raw merge to HDR. Try it and experiment to see what you get. |

Julie, I like it! Nice job of sharpening up the image and making it more contrasty. I think you are really stretching your comfort level trying new things. Go for it!
Don, Stewart, and Alison have some good ideas but I think you have a strong starting point.

Andrew, you are a master at capturing people doing what excites them. Here is a fellow on his motorcycle thrashing through a rainstorm, bent low and probably going through a curve or turn. Look at the grip on the handlebar. Look at the crouch. I can feel the thrust of the engine and hear the whine of the exhaust as he cranks it onto be the winner. Go man go!
Suggestions? Maybe mute down the background white line but that is just nitpicking.
Great image!
Don and Alison have good ideas but I think you need to have the background you included to get a gutteral feel for what the rider is doing. |

Lisa, great composite. Now, living on the shore of Lake Superior where a hundred thousand or more raptors pass during each fall migration, I would like to see the bird looking ahead or downward rather than up. |

Tom, great composite. I like the simplicity of how you created this. I would like a border around the image so that the black of the image doesn't just extend into the black of the website background.
The above comments are a good education for me. |
