Steve, I appreciated your comments on my Rio image this month in group 41 and so wanted to see your work. I like the repetition of curving lines and contrast you achieved. And I like all the above comments your group posts.
Now to digress. I looked at your bio and see we have a somewhat similar history. I am 85 years old and have had various cameras in my hands since I was 12 years old which doesn't mean I am proficient but just have taken a lot of pictures. I'm still using a full size Canon 5D Mark III and an array of lenses. Ugg. I need to downsize to something I can put in my pocket as you do.
As you have, my wife and I have done a fair amount of international travel but that is tapering off due to age infirmities and health. None the less, we have signed up for a Scandinavian Lindblad cruise in May 2021, pandemic quarantine willing.
Do all the traveling you can now - it doesn't get any easier with age.
I look forward to following your monthly submissions.
Best wishes, Henry |

Thanks, Julie, we all have our own separate preferences, each as valid as others. |

Thanks for your comments Catherine.
I probably should confess that I like bright colors and so post process to emphasize this. The original day colors were not this stark; my post processing brought this out. I also should confess that I do not try to capture a realistic picture. I'm trying to create something that is artistically (?) pleasing to my own eye. |

Ok, Anne, I like your comment on the original image having better composition. Thanks.
Now as to sumac being itchy, I do not find the variety we have here in Minnesota itchy and often cut branches for my wife Terry to put in a vase until the leaves fall off. Is it itchy in South Carolina? |

Catherine, I like your fastination with rust and the waiy you brought out the colors. Great work. Now, if it were mine, I would be tempted to find an image within an image by cropping, such as my example here. Your picture just has all sorts of possibilities!

Wow, Jamie this indeed is macabre. Pre halloween, maybe it is appropriate. Black and white is appropriate. Contrast I think is good. Some years ago I visited Papua New Guinea where head hunting had been historically done. I shivered at the sight there and shiver at the site of a wall incorporating skulls.
Interesting! |

Wonderful, wonderful. There is so much detail and infrared foliage adds a different touch to a beautiful scenic. I cannot think of any improvements to suggest. Keep it up! |

Julie, you really captured these birds including some catch lights in the eyes. The birds are sharp and the background is indistinct. You really did a wonderful job on this Julie! |

There is lots to peruse in this Andrew beginning with the curving reflections, dominant crane, the lesser crane as well as buildings in the background. I know we are tasked to make suggestions but I can't think of any. Nice work! |

Hi Brad, your suggestions do not discourage me and in fact I enjoy truthful comments for it opens me to new ways of looking and thinking. What is so enjoyable about a creative group is that we try new things to please ourselves and to see what the response of others is. |

Steve, thanks for your comments. In answer to your questions I blew up the original taken in 2003 which appears to show some pvc pipes here and there. Whether they are water or sewer pipes I do not know and at the time I did not ask if there were water or sewer lines.
As background I hired a cab to take me about for the day and one of the things I wanted to see was a favala. I was on one side of a steep open ravine or valley with this image showing the opposite side. I do not recall seeing wells or water pumps nor do I recall seeing open sewage runs so my guess is that there were some sort of water and sewage lines. When the pandemic quarantine is lifted, I would like to do a return trip. |

Brad, your black and white adjustment does focus on the clothing in a subtle way and also accentuates the jumble of transmission lines.
You have given me a new way to look at filters as creating a mood or tying things together. Currently I seem to be in a mood to use splashy colors, to posterize if you will and change, emphasize the original colors. Thanks for the new insights. |

Lisa, this is a captivating image. You certainly do a lot of experimenting. As Brad does, I too would be interested to know how you did this. |

The Butterfly Ship is sailing past with those colorful monarch butterfly wings being a jib. The yellows, the pinks, the rose colors are really eye catching. The extended foreground with reflections adds interest.
Suggestions? Well, to nitpick there could be a little detail in the hull but that is really a minor point. This is an award winning image as it is! |

This duck is coming right out of my monitor and into the water on my desk! Nice job! There is nothing I can suggest to improve this image. |

Maryellen, you worked with a lot of elements here, the altered house, the tombstones, the turkey vultures, the figure on the steps, and the torn window shades. Blending all that in must have been a challenge! For me the figure doesn't quite work as I would like a little detail showing but that is just a personal feeling. I look forward to more of your composites.

Kathy, I'm sure your friend is pleased with her Christmas card! The dogs, the Christmas decorations, the fire, and the hats all add to a wonderful creation. Personally I like the sharpness of the original just as well as the Topaz rendition.
As an aside, I just looked at your bio in which the image is very dark. Perhaps you might want to redo it so we can see who you are. |

Brad, this is a tremendous image with great movement and composition. I like the sharpness of the yellow petals and the blurry motion of the other petals. Artistically the egret adds another center of interest but to me it doesn't convey a feeling of rekindled love. Great composted image! |
