Julie, you have a good point and I actually have a picture of just the red sailboat. I guess I thought the early morning fisherman and the moored red sailboat together made a stronger image.

Yes Andrew, I neglected to crop out the white streak on the edge as I should have.
As to the tree, you are correct that it is confusing to anyone who has not been to this small harbor. I should have cropped it out. In reality I and the tree are on same side of a perhaps 20 foot wide channel and the red boat is tied to the bank of the other side of the channel. I will see if I can photograph this again. |

Catherine, you are enjoying your work with reflections and capturing some really nice reflections. I like how abstract this one is.
I would have two ideas. To make this more abstract, crop in on the right to exclude the dark section. If you wanted it more realistic, shoot from lower down so that a viewer can see that it is a boat and its reflection in the water.
Great image Catherine and I look forward to more of your reflections! |

Well, two teenagers certainly do look sad and dejected on moving day. You captured it!
Would it be possible to correct the keystone effect so the walls and windows were straight?
Andrew has some good suggestions.

Jamie, I haven't been to Iceland but this must capture the barrenness of the land and the grayness of an overcast day. Great image!
I would be tempted to lighten the overall image slightly. Ah, after reading your comment to Andrew I realize this online image was not what you intended. |

Julie, I think this is a great image in which the Kooka has its prize worm and is in sharp focus. I would be tempted to reduce the exposure slightly so the highlights wouldn't burn out. Great capture!

Andrew, this is really an interesting image including the bridge, the three ships in the background and the coal train passing.
To give the sky more snap, would it be possible to compost in a cloudy background? |

Lisa, I agree with you on having one area as a focal point and muting the layers some. Next time I will do so. |

Kathy and Lisa I agree with you. I got so involved with working with layers that I neglected creating a center of interest. Next time. |

Brad, thanks for your comments and, yes, I would agree with you that less is more and I should erase the overlap. Unfortunately the image has been flattened so I can't go back into the layers. Next time. |

Lisa, I always look forward to your images and the combination of technique and artistic virtuoso that you apply. This is another one of your great creations. I can't add anything other than to say this would be great on our living room wall. |

Jan, this is a startling, eye catching image. Black and white lines and nothing more. Very creative!
How would it look if the cat were facing diagonally toward the viewer. Just a thought.
I too like the tail creeping out the top. |

Dogboy is wonderful Lisa! The muted background, the oval crop, and the black and white treatment all speak of an old, old photograph found in the attic. Nice work! |

Maryellen, rather than just taking a pleasing picture of an expansive field of sunflowers you have created your own artistic image. Congratulations on a wonderful picture! The composition is appealing, the yellow color is pleasing, and the crystal filter background compliments the sunflowers. I have no suggestions for improvements. But I will try Nucly.

Your composite, Kathy,is really interesting. The waves, the clouds, and the dark land all center the viewer's interest on the old building. And in the background the flying birds impart an element of life and motion. Your composting and blending really works. I can't think of any way to improve this great image!
Now having read the above comments, I find them interesting also. |

Brad, I like the abstractness of this image.I like that you are using complementary colors. I like the textured overlay which gives unity and coherence to the image. I like the way the two flowers break the surface of the image.
Were me, which it isn't, I would be tempted to play with the placement of the two flowers just to see what would happen. Perhaps I would try the left hand flower flowing out of the lower left hand corner and moving up into the center. I would also be tempted to try the right hand flower in different positions flowing up into the center or center right of the image. What fun!
And what fun to now view the above comments and your interaction with the two Lisas. |
