Catherine, this is nice visioning and isolating of an interesting subject. You really captured the defining highlights.
Did you play with the contrast slider to get some variations?
Nice work!

Alison, I had to google blood moon to understand what it is. You did a great job of capturing it and making a progression image of the passing moon. Hand held,1/25th of a second - wow!
Great composting! I can't wait to see what you will do next month. |

Jamie, I like the way you put this all together. I like that you tipped your camera up slightly, the way the staircases add variety and interest. I like that this is color rather than black and white. I like the way you don't include all of the foreground railing or ceiling which would have made it too symmetric.
did you try any variations in which there were individuals on the stairs or floors to compare with this image?
Nice work! |

Bob, this is a classic image of basic elements, the beach, the ocean surf, the setting sun, and the suffer meeting the challenge of natural elements. It is powerful and direct. Great image!
I have no suggestions.

Alison, as always your comments are deeply thought provoking and delightful. The Lake Superior basin rock was formed 2.7 billion years ago and had subsequent volcanic eruptions and then was subject to ice age advances and retreats. What is left along the north shore of Lake Superior is glaciated volcanic rock over which a number of streams and rivers flow in cascades into Lake Superior. The drive from Duluth, MN to Thunder Bay, Canada skirts these cascade and falls.
Cascade River I enjoy for the forests it floes through and the ruggidness of the volcanic rock it flows over. This particular location I return to because of the senousness of the river, the multiple falls and the closeness of the trees which frame the river.
Truthfully, I am so accustomed to the dark rock that I do not take note of it any more. What I'm trying to capture is the water, the forest, and yes, the bedrock of the area taken as a total image or impression. I have taken to minimizing our dark underlying volcanic bedrock of the area because it is not colorful. You have opened my eyes anew. This rock is different than say the farm soil of Iowa. So how do I characterize it in an interesting way, how do I show this rock to be interesting to other viewers. Alison, a big thanks!! |

Andrew, great that you included the sharp grass in the foreground to add depth perspective. I agree with the other comments. Awesome site to photograph. |

Ah Lisa, your skill and experience show in your creations! Who would think that some simple grasses could become a bug in the grass.
Nice work! |

Jan, I like this creative idea and I like that it is black and white. I like the way you have composted the three images but feel the perspective is a little questionable. Perhaps the eagle and rock should be a little smaller or the Dubai image should be cropped in more. But as I think more about it, your image is great the way it is! |

Sue, wonderful portrait of your three friends! How did you get the attention of all of them at once.
The background deceased dogs I would like to see a little brighter so they would have a little detail but still retain the idea they are no longer with us. |

Wow Maryellen, I like this this creative image and the way you have put it together! I like the mirror image and the way you have composted it. Perhaps the cat and right hand vulture could be a little brighter so they stand out more from the background.
Brad, Jan & Kathy have some interesting variations. |

Kathy, I like the way you have worked to carry out your vision. But somehow it doesn't speak to me emotionally. Perhaps the tall ship should be larger. Perhaps Peter Pan and the moon should be higher in the sky. But keep working on your composting!
Now, after reading the other comments, I think they have some interesting ideas. Keep working at it! |

Brad, I find this much more interesting than your post last month. The lighting is better and I look at the figure peering out to the horizon. I imagine the individual in awe of the sunset. |
