Alison, persistence paid off in a wonderful image. I like the repetition and flow of the repelling figures. I like the strong diagonal of the building. I would be tempted to lighten the building. |

Jamie, wonderful capture with a catch light in the eye and the bird looking toward you.
I would be tempted to crop off some of the top and right side. |

Great image Bob!I think you did a great job of tweaking this although I don't have the original to compare it with. Perhaps a border or frame around the image would be a helpful addition.
Your detailed process notes and discussion with Alison are very helpful. I will explore HSL sliders. |

Prakhar, your country is so colorful and you have a knack for capturing it! In the vein of personal taste, I would not crop as tightly on the top and I would have let the man walk another couple steps forward. But that said, the color and interest is there. Nice work!
Alison has some interesting ideas worth a try

Andrew, I like this - my eye is immediately drawn to to the switcher and his blowing hair. Your cloning and cropping has eliminated distracting details. The basic blue color with red and yellow accents are pleasing to the eye.
The only change I would suggest is cloning in some clouds.
While I agree with Bob that sometimes we clean up images too much, I think the job you did is right on. |

Thanks Alison for the references. I will look at them and then try them. As I often bracket three exposures, this should work.
It will be a while for me to work on them as on Tuesday I leave for a week photo tour with Harold Davis and eight or so others to Paris in spring. |

Ah Alison, you caught me. I hopped none of you would catch my poor cloning on the right side.
I thought of cloning above the people's heads but did not because I wanted to retain the close feeling of the people and the ship as it entered the canal.
I agree that white shoulder on the left detracts but I couldn't think of a way to delete or clone it out and welcome any suggestions. |

Luminosity masking - I haven't learned that technique.
How do you do it? |

Lisa, I find myself analyzing this seminal image in two ways: technically and artistically. Technically, it is skillfully and impeccably done, as is all your work. I have no suggestions but enjoy the new techniques you expose us to.
Now, artistically, what does it mean to me? As a mostly life long resident of northern Minnesota, birch trees and fall colors seem a part my being. Although it may not be there, I sense a trail leading into the forest following a stream upward from the shore of Lake Superior toward its source in the highlands ridges. This is especially poignant to me as I lost my best hiking companion of many, many years to old age this past year. The shoe represents our trusty hiking boots which have carried us to many meaningful adventures.
So as all art viewers, I bring my personal experiences to the art work and apply it to interpret what I am seeing. Your creation, your art has created a positive emotional response in me which I think is what we all try to create in our viewers. I can say no more than a heart felt thank you.
Now, having read the comments of Brad, Kathy, and Mark, there are things you can do but what you have done is meaningful to me.

Hmm, it took me a moment to find all five animals but there they are. You created a magnificent composite of jungle life using the creatures you observed and photographed. I like the way you tweaked the background, found a way to blend in the animals, and make it all work. And the reflective pool is a completing touch. Let's see some more of this creative work.
Brad and Kathy have thoughtful comments.

Sue, Elliott Erwitt would love how you captured Bub! You must have had a lot of fun working with him, your husband, and daughter-in-law.
The others have captured details that I missed. Never-the-less, you have done a fine composting creation. |

I like the whimsy Kathy! The granddaughter, the dog, and the bird feeder. The fairy - for me, the pink is a little jaring against the green and blues. However, the composite is really wonderful. Nice work.
Brad and Sue have some good ideas. |

Brad, you elicited a chuckle from me when i first saw your image! I too find desert heat oppressive. Yes, you have to be stoic in mid-summer in Arizona. To me, the clouds detract. Could you composte in a burning sun? |

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for your comments.
On Tuesday I leave for my first photo tour led by Harold Davis, 'Paris in April', and my first personal experience with him. I'm looking to get some exciting images, including Monet's gardens in Giverny. |
