Allison, with your film/video background you notched it perfectly! The balloon, the wispy cloud, the inclusion of the observers says it all about the excitement of the liftoff.
The others have some good suggestions of variations to experiment with but I think your capture is as good as theirs. |

Jamie, this is wonderful that you were able to capture these orchid blossoms at a show with such detail and composition. I too take small spring reflectors and even black and white fabrics (kind of a stretchy material so it doesn't crease) that I can use as a background to eliminate distracting detail.
I like your post processing which darkened slightly the blooms and branch. I like the shadows showing in the black background which I also do but many photographers want a solid black. It's personal choice I guess.
I'm not skiing any more but if you are, how about an image of a skier cutting a beautiful turn the way Bob captured a surfer turn.

Ah, Bob, you caught Rat in pure ecstasy cutting a beautiful turn on his board the way skiers and snow boarders savor turns on the slopes! The action is there, the spray of water is there, the curve is there.
This is beautifully close cropped. Another option on another image would be to crop wider including some space for Rat to be traveling into. But either way works.
Supe image! |

Andrew, I like that you pointed your camera up so that you get strong diagonal lines and included some sun flare. The southwestern details of the building and about the three windows are a focal point of interest.
I wonder, would putting more contrast, lightening the wall put more snap into the image? |

Prakhar, this is truly an amazing capture of a city and what it means to you and the people of India. I immediately Googled Benaras and this is what I found,Varanasi being another name for Benaras.
Varanasi is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh dating to the 11th century B.C. Regarded as the spiritual capital of India, the city draws Hindu pilgrims who bathe in the Ganges River's sacred waters and perform funeral rites. Along the city's winding streets are some 2,000 temples, including Kashi Vishwanath, the "Golden Temple," dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
Elevation: 265′
As to the image, I like it as it is. The figures bring life to the scene. The tiles, the poles, the boats provide such rich detail to observe and think about. If this were on my wall I would spend hours examining the detail and contemplating the religious history of Hinduism.
Great job! And keep showing you country to all of us!
I heartily agree with the comments of Alison and Jamie. |

Lisa, this is a great compost of polarized image versions. I like the blending of the colors and how they radiate out from the center.
Brad, Sue, and Kathy have great ideas. |

Jan, this really is a take on different species, especially in your back yard. Would it be stronger if you cropped slightly on the left and put the ducks higher in the background, maybe the top one quarter of the image? Are those really ducks? They almost look like a flock of shore birds to me.
All of the others above have good suggestions. |

The invisible man is certainly visible and his ride is wacky with all the other elements added in. How would it look if you tilted the raptor and house to the right insead of the left and had the lizard facing to the left also?
Now I have read the above comments and think they have valid ideas. I too cannot wait to see more of your creations! |

Kathy, your concept and carrying it out really worked! The low, single source lighting on your husband's face works and your work with blending modes and painting enhanced the effect. The background of stars is the finishing touch.
Nice job! |

Brad, 'Inner vision' is a nice creative idea and concept. But for me it doesn't seem to work. I like the original 2 image better in color than black and white. And on the original image 2 I would clone out the upper and lower light areas. And perhaps the transition or blending between the two images could be more gradual.
As I read the suggestions of the others above, I think they have some good ideas.
How about working some more on merging image concepts. |
