Hi Curtis,
I am comfortable with either image. And I think you are correct in cropping some of the foreground. |

Prakhar, you are right in your assessment of the original and final images. I guess I am in a period of seeing what software filters can do to change a realistic picture. |

Ah, Andrew, you are seeing things that I did not notice. You are right and it is a pity that the software filter removed the clouds and faint moon.
The artifact in the stern of the ship is not an artifact but the bridge of Great Lakes iron ore carriers of this vintage which extends out slightly on either side of the deck.
The black dot-like objects in the sky are white gulls which the software filter turned black. You are right, they do detract from the image and should be removed. |

Hi Karen, I was so focused on the total image that I didn't see the face on the front of the boat but you are right, it is there! |

Karen, what a wonderful job of composting! The color of the pumpkin really catches one's eye. And it is so creative to put a landscape, a pumpkin, and dogs in one image.
Some thoughts: the dogs and the pumpkin should perhaps be smaller to fit into the scale of the landscape. And if they were more toward the right side of the image, there would be room for them to float into the center of the pond.
I admire your creativeness in what you are doing! |

Curtis, you captured it with your first waterfall image! Your 10 stop neutral density filter achieved the nice milky feel of the waterfall and your wide angle lens and f11 aperature setting gave you sharpness from foreground through the background. Nice job! |

Jamie, you are a creative artist with your camera! The black background is perfect and the single petal in the foreground is the finishing touch. I also like the delicate curves of the tulip stems rather than having them straight as people usually do with flowers in vases.
And the lighting is perfect! Did you use a strobe in a soft box to light the tulips? I have such equipment but have not spent the time to learn how to light still lifes. |

Bai, you really composed this image beautifully! You found the right place to photograph. The lines of light and the buildings going from the foreground and receding into the background provide energy and depth of field. I can imagine how much effort you must have put into this to make it a pleasing composted image.
After seeing what a beautiful image you created, I hesitate to make a suggestion. But if you could have had a clear image of a cyclist on the red trail, it might add interest. What do you think? |

Prakhar, this brings back memories of my trip to Mongolia. Nice job of post processing! Would it add interest to crop on the bottom so that the viewer would be closer to the foreground boulders which would then become a point of interest for the viewer with the road leading into the distance?
This image really captures the ruggedness of much of Mongolia -- and the fact that most of the country is free of humans and human development. Great job! |

Andrew, this is great capturing the canoe racers, the power boat, and the cruise ship.
If it were me I could try to crop the left slightly and add more to the right so the image would not be quite so symmetrical. And could you compost in some clouds across the sky? |
