Nice effect. I do think it's good to include the surroundings to give context. Interesting historic building, very few of them left. |

Effective treatment which works well. I think I prefer the first version over the coloured version, it is stronger. In a way "isolation" is a possible title - maybe he is isolated as he doesn't have a phone. I have no suggestions on a different treatment. |

I am not so fond of the black background - would a "proper" sky be better? Otherwise I very much like the foreground which is very striking. |

I like the effect. Good treatment. When I first looked at the image I thought the fence was reflections in the canal water. In a way it is a bit of an odd picture with a barge on the top of a corrugated iron fence (this is not a criticism). Judges may say what am I looking at! I hope it does well. |

Thanks for your comments. I am not that fond of this treatment myself but thought it worth the experiment. And if you don't try something then the opportunities are missed. |

Yes, I like this a lot although must confess I found the border a bit "fussy". I do think Jan and Steve have improved the image. |

Super picture Catherine, I am with Don on straightening and increasing vibrance; also producing a mono variant (two for the price of one) of this colour image. Well done. |

Its a dreamy image which I assume is what you were trying for It's nice to have sunlight reflecting of the large rock, also a touch of sunlight on the rocks on the right hand side. Interesting sky and you have avoided having the horizon straight across the middle.
Yes, might have worked better to use a ND filter to get a longer exposure.
My only suggestion would be to clone the right hand foreground rock out. |

Yes nice and sharp, well exposed. The animal is well positioned in the frame with enough context to see what they get up to. Thanks for showing us your photography, |

Nice picture, very hard to get it all in (and shows the usefulness of a smart phone). And hard to get everything straight and symmetrical). You have done a reasonable job at cloning out the scaffolding (I suspect there will be building work on the minster for the next 200 years) but once one knows about it the wavy lines do tend to give it away. Maybe better to crop in further but that's just me. |

A really autumnal scene. I like the increase in vibrance. My only suggestion would be to crop a little more off the bottom (ie to the branch) to remove the light area and perhaps clone out the light area in the new bottom left hand corner. This tends to catch my eye. |

Well seen! I think the crop is very good and appropriate with the roof gable(?) right on the third. I works well in monochrome. I can't really suggest anything to improve it. |

Thanks, Lance - I haven't been compared with HCB before!
I do tend to crop a bit too much so, I will take your comment on board.
I did have a go at cloning out the lamp standard shadow after I posted. Now not sure - what do you think?
