18 Feb 23 Comment The foreground bird gets mixed in with the background bird - this doesn't happen to the same extent in the colour version. I think the colour version works better than the mono. Feb 17th
18 Feb 23 Comment This is a really creative idea, most innovative which works well. I like the treatment. Feb 17th
18 Feb 23 Comment I think this is excellent, the combination works really well and I don't have anything else to suggest. Feb 17th

18 Feb 23 Comment Is this a straight picture of a pie you cooked yourself? Feb 17th
18 Feb 23 Comment I think this treatment works very well. Good job. Good feeling of movement. Feb 17th
18 Feb 23 Comment Thanks, Brian, how are you doing?

I used my then club's flatbed scanner, which I was lucky enough to borrow for a month or two as no one else was wanting to use it. I think it was the Epson Perfection 4990. This enabled me to scan 10 slides at a time giving ca. 3000 x 2000 pixel jpegs at 6-8 MB file sizes in 10 minutes. Mono & colour negatives (there was a neg holder as well as a slide holder) were automatically turned to positive images. It has of course been superseded. I obviously only scanned the slightly better or more interesting films and then binned them.

40 Feb 23 Comment Well captured - tricky when you have to use a long lens because of access problems. My only comment would be to lighten the shadows. Feb 23rd
40 Feb 23 Reply I like that better. What do the others think? Feb 17th
40 Feb 23 Reply thanks yes, I should have cloned the horrible carpet out. Feb 17th
40 Feb 23 Reply thanks, I think that is an improvement. Feb 17th
40 Feb 23 Comment Quite a unusual picture but well caught and a good treatment. Feb 17th
40 Feb 23 Comment This is very atmospheric. I like your treatment of the tree trunks and the background.
Just a couple of suggestions, the vista on the right hand side grabs my eye too much and I wonder about cropping it out or at least darkening it. Also there is a line on the edge of the path parallel to the tree trunk which might also be better cloned out. Perhaps also the broken line above it in the far background (that's being very picky). But a very nice picture and well done.

40 Feb 23 Comment Nicely seen and an interesting picture. Not quite as sharp as I would like - better to shoot at a smaller aperture than f3.5 to get more depth of field. My only suggestion would be to flip the image so as the stem is leaning the other way.
I prefer the colour version but both are good.
