I struggle a bit with the geometrics overwhelming the face here. |

Welcome to the group, Joan.
Nice treatment of the statue which works well - neat idea. I am accused of being too literal but I wonder if it would be better to have the balloon colours as red - white - blue in that order |

Welcome to the group, Mike.
Great idea, well executed. I think better to zoom in a little but that's just me. |

Works as an abstract, very nice treatment. I think I prefer the top but in a way nice to have both. I suspect judges will hate it! |

Neat idea, I believe there are other solar systems with two suns. I think to crop out some of the bottom would work better. |

One just doesn't have the control using this technique - it might have been better with a shorter exposure time and less movement of the camera. I throw 95% of the images away using this technique, but for me an interesting experiment. Thanks for all your comments. |

Great treatment. I like Mike's version better as somehow the smears in the blue background don't attract but that's a personal thing. The gold versus the blue of the background is very striking. |

But it's a technique which sometimes can give you Gold so worthwhile persevering, even if you take 200 pics and ditch them all. Don't give up. |

I find it difficult to comment on this image, although unusual it really isn't suitable as a study group picture as there isn't very much one can say IMHO. |

I think always good to go back and repeat with an eye to improvement. And maybe better weather in 2023. |

It's a traction engine for pulling agricultural machinery.
Yes, looking at the image afresh it is a bit busy and maybe separating to two images might be an improvement. I hadn't thought of that so thank you. |

The easiest way is to do it in Lightroom (which I use for 99% of my post treatment). Select the image (or all the images in that folder) and choose "auto" instead of "as shot". |

This technique can produce interesting results (see Group 18 this month - although that's not much good) but it's hit and miss and I discard most of my attempts. Judges don't like it much either!
Here, it just looks out of focus - sorry.
I would suggest trying this with something recognisable in the foreground. perhaps mixing with flash or even trying multiple exposures. |

Good shot of the lion - nice and sharp. I agree with Mike and Don that a better crop would help. Also you need to pay attention to compensating for Auto WB in post. |

Nice shot and good treatment in post. I am relaxed about it being flipped or not flipped, both are fine. |

If it were possible, is there a better view if you were photographing more to the left? There looks like an interesting view of the left hand fork which is incomplete.
I think you have done a good job in post, looks very attractive. I think plus or minus 1 stop in HDR doesn't make a lot of difference, if possible I would try +/- 3 or even 5 stops. There is a large block of rock in the foreground which is a bit soft, perhaps better to focus a bit closer to the camera rather than infinity?
There is a white stick in the foreground right hand side which caches the eye - maybe better cloned out.
Hope this helps. |
