14 Aug 20 Comment Hope you don't mind me (Group 40) butting in. Really neat picture, just a pity the light was so bad. My only comment is that unfortunately you have clipped the left hand of side and the plane is missing a bit of the rotor there. This really spoils it for me. I had a similar picture (Jan 2020) and expanded the canvas and effectively added a bit of sky. These aero pictures are really hard. Aug 10th

16 Aug 20 Comment Nice Pic. I think the reflections in the sea in the foreground and the pleasant waves enhance this image. My only suggestion would be to clone out the orange boat(?) on the right hand side - draws my eye. Aug 31st

18 Aug 20 Comment It's clever and works well with this kind of image. I haven't anything to say about it. Aug 29th
18 Aug 20 Comment Yes thanks, agree abt the foreheads (well 3 of them) Aug 15th
18 Aug 20 Reply I agree thank you Aug 15th
18 Aug 20 Reply Yes thanks, it needs more work Aug 15th
18 Aug 20 Comment Lovely! I personally would not have the plant in the foreground but that's a matter of taste. Aug 15th
18 Aug 20 Comment I would never have thought of trying this, most unusual. I am not hide bound about off numbers but to me there is a gap centre top which looks a bit empty. Aug 15th
18 Aug 20 Comment I agree that it's too hard to see the background VM. Aug 15th
18 Aug 20 Comment Very attractive effect (I like the colour version too. I think I agree with Mike about a slight crop off the LHS, maybe also some off the foreground (but I tend to over crop).
Hope everything is OK with you.

32 Aug 20 Comment A very atmospheric picture and so good to get such a historic record. I feel that the hooded figures on the right hand side with no faces might be better cropped off to make a more square format. Aug 29th

40 Aug 20 Comment The real fun will be indexing them in LR. I had a similar number of images to keyword in April and still haven't completed this. Aug 28th
40 Aug 20 Comment Thanks. His was posed unlike mine. One forgets after his documentary phase Hine later went on to "art" photography. Aug 21st
40 Aug 20 Reply Have you put any of your abstracts into your club competitions? Aug 12th
40 Aug 20 Reply I think that's an improvement. Aug 12th
40 Aug 20 Reply I was merely suggesting what could make this a stronger image. Another option would be one without the seated figure and a view taken more to the left, just with a line of seats. Aug 12th
40 Aug 20 Comment Nice as an abstract. I like your crop, not so sure about including the mooring post as Henry suggests. I would be tempted to crop off the right side of the boat completely (at the bow).
Another thought, are there a couple of spots on your camera sensor? There are possibly a couple of smudges on the blue of the boat on the LHS. Easy enough to clone out but I just wondered if the camera needed a clean.

40 Aug 20 Comment It looks like a lovely house but the maintenance and repairs must be a major concern. I think this is such an interesting view of the stairwell, well seen and captured.

I am easy: colour or black & white. The yellow lighting is lovely. I have never done B&W in the camera - I feel its easier to do all the conversion in post. This is all personal but I don't much like the mass of white wall on the right and overall feel it would benefit from a bit more exposure and lightening of shadows. Also, perhaps a little bit of straightening up. But this is all a matter of taste.

Looking forward to seeing more pictures of your home in due course.

40 Aug 20 Comment I agree the white water at the top left hand side is blown out and there is just no detail. I agree with Henry about doing a severe crop. There is some interesting texture detail in the wet rock although the plants in the foreground are sharper than the stone.
I've had a play in LR; have a try yourself to see if it works for you. Auto WB, highlight -50, shadow +80, blacks -70, dehaze +50.

40 Aug 20 Comment Good street photography. As Anne says it's good that they are looking in different directions so not regimented, although I am not so convinced about the man at the back who is looking down, doesn't feel right to me.
There is a sliver of column at the top left hand side which I would be tempted to clone or crop out.

40 Aug 20 Comment Great feeling of peace and tranquility - lovely architecture. You have got the columns nice and straight. I think the final is an improvement on the original. Good to remove the elbow sticking out. I would be tempted to clone out the detritus on the floor behind the seat too.

The only negative for me (I am nit picking) is that there is nothing at the vanishing point at the end of the "cloisters" where my eye is drawn to. A picture including someone standing there and no one on the seat might be an interesting alternative but you can't marshal the public to stand where you want them to!.

40 Aug 20 Comment This is a really pleasant scene and I don't think it's too contrasty. Nice detail in the wood - it really gives that "history" feeling of the West. In my limited experience of this sort of subject, the main problem is a messy background which you have avoided here. I agree with Henry about including the top of the wagon. Did you also get a shot taken more to the left of the buckboard too - that might be stronger? Hopefully you can find these files when you have sorted your LR catalogues (I am doing a similar indexing exercise of my images in LR and it's a massive job).

I just wonder if it is a little "grainy" (especially the ground) which you might be able to fix when you find the original RAW file.

Hope this helps.
