18 Apr 20 Comment Very pleasant effect which is most effective. I enjoyed looking at this picture and the detail. Lovely colours. My only suggestion would be to straighten the perceived tilt. Apr 16th
18 Apr 20 Comment I like your final version a whole lot more - nothing else to add. Apr 16th
18 Apr 20 Comment Brilliant, what a great idea - you are so creative! Apr 16th
18 Apr 20 Comment Great image, my only thoughts are that the the sky on the right side is a bit strange and might benefit from being cloned to take out the stripey effect. Apr 16th
18 Apr 20 Reply You're right about a border. Apr 16th
18 Apr 20 Comment I agree, Ian, and I must give your suggestion re partial "contouring" a go. My other thoughts are that the area of the left hand figure's shirt is to bright and needs toning down. Apr 16th
18 Apr 20 Comment Hi Jim, could you include the original pic so we can see what you've done? Apr 2nd

40 Apr 20 Reply Thanks John, I quite agree about the left hand side. Once we get through this C19 lockdown I am going to revisit with a different camera and a better point of view. Hopefully they will have finished the scaffolding by then too. Apr 23rd
40 Apr 20 Comment It's an interesting concept but I feel it needs a bit more work especially the green stems. For me it's too complicated and perhaps homing on on the white flower heads would be more effective. Apr 17th
40 Apr 20 Reply Yes, thanks, I knew it was close to Lake Erie. Apr 14th
40 Apr 20 Comment Great shot. There are a lot of bills all together at the left hand side but I don't think it matters. Stuart's suggestion also adds a bit more "zip" to the image. Only suggestion would be to check that the whites aren't slightly blown. Apr 13th
40 Apr 20 Comment Great shot, well seen. I wouldn't worry about straightening the left side; as suggested you could perhaps do a slight crop instead and maybe another along the bottom to remove the shadow and the loop. Or leave well alone! Apr 13th
40 Apr 20 Comment It looks like it could do with a lot more work, as Alison suggests. It's "nice" but lacks impact.
Could I suggest that it would be worthwhile googling Antelope Canyon images to see what other people have done here. Not to copy them but to give you an idea how much you need to raise your game.

40 Apr 20 Comment I understand that there is normally a warbler "festival" in Ohio in early May which is supposed to be really good. Obviously cancelled this year but maybe something to consider in the future. Apr 12th
40 Apr 20 Comment Nice street picture, good lighting. Would it have been even better if she had been looking up or towards the camera?
I tend to crop too much but I would crop even more than Henry suggests to zoom in on the woman. Also I think there is a slight camera tilt which I have corrected.

40 Apr 20 Comment It gives a real impression of Bruges. Pleasant reflections in the canal. When I take this sort of image in HDR I usually go for a wider range than +/- 1 stop; often +/- 3 stops or more.
I would be tempted to tone down the orange of the buildings quite a bit, adjust the verticals as the camera looks like it was tilted upwards. I agree some of the sky isn't necessary.

40 Apr 20 Comment Welcome to the Group.
Thanks for your comments. York City is always interesting, I have been there many times and it never fails to impress. The 4 shots were taken hand-held at pretty much standard f stop and shutter speed so no special care or attention - I rarely carry a tripod although I have three. I just picked the 4 images and used the standard LR photomerge "medium" setting auto everything and it just does all the work for me. I hesitate to say "no skill involved" :) but actually it helped having fairly similar lighting across the scene (I've done photomerge panoramas where the left hand side sky is much darker than the right hand side and it is awful). I don't think this would get anything more than nul points in a record image competition though.
When we are allowed out I am going to go to the same spot with a wide angle lens and see if it comes out better.
